1. Abandoning the run in the second half yet again... When Cutcliffe starts going shotgun formations and running draws i know our run game is dead....

2. Chavis going from playing the db's <5 yards off the receivers in the first half to the same cover schemes with 8 yard cushions... THERE'S A REASON WE HELD THEM SCORELESS IN THE FIRST HALF AND GAVE UP 24 PTS IN THE SECOND...

Maybe i'm stupid, but it seems like the middle of the field won't be wide open if everyone sticks their man from the line, and the linebackers cover the tight ends and backs...

I totally agree.....I don't know what's up with Chavis after being a real physical, smashmouth coach for so many years!!

To me, it goes back to:

Fulmer trying to coach good enough to not lose. He always, I mean always (if we are ahead going into the second half) goes back to conservative play calling and doesn't stick with what got him in the lead in the first place. It's ridiculous, he's been doing this for years and now everyone has him figured out.

I agree totally, I remember the draw play on 3rd and long when we were backed up and i thought " Oh no here it comes".

maybe on defense, but on offense, playing more conservative would be to our advantage, (running the ball more) our running game finally came along this year, but cut calls plays like it's still 06...

screen passes are as good as running if we get some blocking upfront... i saw yday when cocks consistently got 6 - 8 yards in their screen passes when we had 2 - 3 yards

You can't go three and out the entire second half and expect to win either...

Two reasons -

1) Everyone sees our screen plays coming.

2) We never recognize a screen play, we always over pursue.

Goes back to coaching...

I can't really blame this on Fulmer. Piss poor throwing and decision making by Ainge made the pass game invisible and by extension allowed SC to stop the run. And Chavis' horrendous play calling in the second half. Chavis should kiss the arse of the secondary for this game.
