That was a hell of a game. I never feel good after a loss but this is the best I've ever felt after a loss. These boys DO NOT GIVE UP. It's a loss but Texas A&M didn't beat us, we beat ourselves.
My takeaways from the game, I'll start out with the good:
1. Kamara should be the #1 RB the rest of the season. Dude is an all out baller. I love Hurd but Alvin fits our offense SO much better.
2. Our offense looked unstoppable today. Almost 700 total yards. He still makes some errors but no one can argue that Josh Dobbs has improved as a passer this season. This teams rides and dies with him.
3. John Kelly is going to be a stud. He stepped up nicely today and made a lot of key plays. Love watching him run.
4. Colton Jumper is making a name for himself. I'm happy eating crow on this one. He's played pretty well the last 3 games. He's made some excellent tackles in key
situations.
5. If we had Cam Sutton, JRM and DKJr out there this team would be AMAZING.
6. Despite numerous injuries we keep finding a way to put ourlselves in winning situations. It's nice to finally be able to say again that we have some depth.
7. The offensive line played their best game of the season. Coleman Thomas came in and did well.
The bad:
1. We can't hold on to the football. It's like they dip the ball in Astro-Glide before the offense takes the field. We didn't have that problem last year with basically the same group of players. And for Christ sake Josh Dobbs, FALL on the damn ball when there is a fumble. Something needs to be done.
2. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Dobbs but he needs to improve his decision making in certain situations.
3. This team is WAY too undisciplined. Way too many penalties and stupid decisions. We shot ourselves in the foot way too much. Another anamoly compared to last year as we were one of the least penalized teams in the nation with virtually the same group of players.
4. We aren't very good at tackling. Way too many times I saw white jerseys just running into people instead of just wrapping up. Need to improve at this.
5. Our secondary NEVER looks back for the ball on long throws. They could get quite a few picks if they did.
