My Take on How to Slow Florida's Offense

Wait. You said BGSU pasted Troy (the score was 31-14) and that WKU played South Florida fairly close (35-13). That doesn't really make sense.

it was a 21-13 game in the 4th I believe. So, therefore, that means it was "fairly" close for a while. And, I was not pointing out that WKU was good; I was pointing out that they suck. To your example of why Troy is good: They were beaten by a team 31-14 who lost the next week by 7 doesn't really make sense either.

That wasn't a point to prove that Troy was good, it was a point to prove that it wasn't that bad of a loss (by the way Troy was tied with BGSU in the 4th quarter).

My proof that they are good is that they outrecruited all those BCS teams and that they win a lot. Troy won 8 games 3 straight years. WKU hasn't won 8 games in 5 years, and they were playing FCS schools.

Face it, Troy is respectable, WKU is pathetic. And at the very least you have to admit that Troy is better.

Troy's program is better, as I already noted. Their team this year sucks. But I readily admit to you that Troy's program is far superior to WKY. Anyway, that's not the point of the thread.

I think the most important thing for us to do is win first and second downs. If we can force Tebow into sure passing downs, he may beat us some, but I think the percentages are with us in getting them off the field. In those situations, Tebow will become a pocket passer where we can give him all kinds of different looks and blitzes that may force a mistake. That's just my take on things. Discuss.

Another option is to issue axe handles to all our defensive players! :naughty:

Troy plays @ WKU. I guess that'll settle it. I think Troy is good for at least 6 wins. I doubt WKU will win 3, but we'll see.

You all are right i think we need to stuff the middle on tebow force him outside so he can get some EB but we have to stop ranies to.

I think usually you try to contain, not force qb to outside where he can see field and or run easier.

Whatever scheme or design that they put in on D, the tackling will have to be superb. I fully trust whatever Monte puts in, but the kids will have to tackle well.

If the secondary misses key tackles like they did in the UCLA came, the greatest scheme in the world won't help.

I think we will see a lot of two deep from Monte. He will try and make FL drive the field and not give up big plays. So look for FL to try to get the ball to the backs and TE underneath. Our LB's have to play great. We also have to get pressure from our front four. I don't think our front can put pressure on Teabow all day. So look for some zone blitz. We will mix in some man and bring the house. But the key for the defense will be the play of the LB's. They have to be perfect.

We have to let the offense play. We can't just try to throw high percentage passes and expect to beat FL. We have to be multiple and we have to hit some deep balls. It would be best IMO to try this early off play action. But we have to give Crompton time and he has to have his best day as a Vol. If he can hit a few big gainers I think we can run the football. But we have to set the run up with the pass. They are going to fill the box till he can prove he can throw it. Even then they may not change. But the one thing the offense can't do is turn the ball over. If they do it will get out of hand quick.

Lastly, We have to win the kicking game. Not only do we need to keep Fl from returning anything. We need a big play here. A blocked punt or a return for a TD. Something.

If we do all of this we have a chance. Is there anything that makes me believe we can? Well, I know one thing from watching UT over the years. You never get what you expect. I am expecting to get beat pretty soundly so that kind of makes me feel better about this game..... Weird?

GBO!!!
