I think the most important thing for us to do is win first and second downs. If we can force Tebow into sure passing downs, he may beat us some, but I think the percentages are with us in getting them off the field. In those situations, Tebow will become a pocket passer where we can give him all kinds of different looks and blitzes that may force a mistake. That's just my take on things. Discuss.

Well obviously. But its the "HOW do you do that" part that trips up most teams. Sounds good on paper, but it's way harder to actually accomplish on game day. Especially when UF is averaging over 8 yards per carry early (last year it was 5+ YPC).

I think we could slow down their offense pretty well if we could play with 12, and that 12th man was exempt form offsides rules.

the best way to slow them down is to keep them off the field. if we can control the time of possession it would help and allow our d to stay fresh and give all they have every snap.

You do that by being disciplined and not allowing the little misdirection crap get you out of position on first down.

Dan Williams and Wes Brown are the key. If they can dominate the middle and the rest of the team can focus on keeping Demps, and Rainey from getting outside we have a chance at holding them to a low score.

Yes, against high school teams.

Must stop run first AND screen pass plays. And of course, no missed tackles for us to stay in the game...

Not last year. The stats for this year, yeah ok. But not last year.

And I hate the HS teams remark. Troy State would give UT a game.

But it's not just the misdirection. It's the veer option, or just the QB draw. All of those things that seem so easy for 3-4 yards. UT has to stop that with penetration and sound tackling.

That's garbage. I watched that game. Troy wasn't much better than WKY.

Troy has outrecruited Boise St for 4 straight years (they also outrecruit Vandy, and Purdue and a lot of BCS teams on a regular basis). They are 1 of only 7 mid-majors to have 8 wins the last 3 years (BYU, TCU, Utah, Boise St, Tulsa, and CMU). Not even Hawai'i, Fresno St or USM can claim that. Troy is pretty good.

The spread is 30 for us on Saturday. Florida makes a lot of teams look bad.

Troy does have a history of having good athletes; however, this year's team sucks. If you watched the game, you would have seen that. Dave Clawson and BGSU just got done pasting them the week before they played Florida.

YOu need to let this go. Troy State is a talented team. BGSU almost beat Missouri the very next week. BGSU might actually be a good team.

Troy state was WAY WAY WAY WAY faster than WKU. There is no comparison.

Look, they might have been faster, but their offense was absolutely atrocious. To act like they are some kind of pretty good team is just a joke. You're just saying that to feel better about the win. It would be like me saying that WKU must be good because they played South Florida fairly close last week. It still doesn't make them a good team.

Oh, you mean BGSU, the same team that barely lost to #25 Mizzou at Mizzou? Bowling Green was up 7 in the 4th quarter. BGSU would probably beat us right now.

That's really how you slow any good offense....IMO if we are going to beat them the Defense has to be able to hit Tebow early and often...Just rock him a couple of times if you can get to him and show him that you're going to come after him all game...That's exactly what Ole Miss did last year and that paid off for them

One thing I did notice is that they did start of kind of slow in their first two games and didn't they fumble 6 times against Troy in the rain?

Yea, but WKU was down 28-20 to South Florida in the 4th. See, you can do that crap all day. We were just down 28-20 to Florida in the Swamp. It doesn't make someone good.

My point was that keeping Tebow in the pocket is what will slow them.

The fumbles are a bit disconcerting, especially if you remember the FSU game last year. Of course, when you're up 3 scores it's a lot easier to toss it up and down the field.
So, what if in the first quarter moody fumbles twice and Crompton throw 2 interceptions to counteract any advantage TN might have?

Wait. You said BGSU pasted Troy (the score was 31-14) and that WKU played South Florida fairly close (35-13). That doesn't really make sense.

Teams like Troy or Southern Miss always have a handful of pretty good athletes who could not for whatever reason get recruited by the BCS schools. And they will stay with a BCS team for a quarter, maybe 20 minutes. But they invariably get worn down as the game wears on.

Unless they are playing an ACC team, in which case they win.
