I remember in 1995 when I first moved to Knoxville. This was also the first time I found the benefits of the internet.

I remember specifically this guy saying to me in the library, dude you gotta check out govols.com, it's awesome.

And it was, UT sports at my finger tips, the inside stories, the quick snippets of information, etc. was indeed awesome.

Now you go to govols.com and the lead story this morning is from an AP writer, not even a freaking local writer!!!!!

Go to the gainesville sun website and gatorsports.com where there is a constant lead story that typically changes every other hour, has a great message board and in my opinion covers college football the way it should be.

I don't get the paper to my house and I won't, the Knox News Sentinel and its related govols website is a sorry excuse for a media outlet.

I know when I first found that website,I would go into it every day to catch up on the Vol news.I thought as well as you that this was great to have all this info about the Vols.I'm in Georgia so I depend on the internet for Tennessee news.I hardly spend any time in govols.com anymore. It just doesn't keep me satisfied like it use to.

I accidently stumbled upon this site partly due to me being disgusted with GoVols.com. I used to go there all the time and read up on UT sports. Then they made you register to read stories, now there are some stories that are locked unless you pay for a subscription. Anyway, I was watching the call in show they do on WBIR on Sunday mornings a few weeks ago and saw a website address flash on the screen. I couldn't remember what I saw but I thought it was Volnation.com. I came here and love this site. Acutally, I saw again the next week it's volquest.com and you have to pay to read their stuff too so I'm very glad I accidently typed in volnation.com instead.

Bottom line is they moved to good stuff to govolsxtra, a pay site. Check out the Nashville Tennessean and the Maryville Daily Times for the good stuff.

I think calling it "good stuff" is pretty generous. They do an ok job but Chris Low does a great job for the Tennessean and he is in Nashville.

I used to go there too. Used to read it everyday religiously and post on the govols board. But they never moderated it and it soon became a cesspool. Now that the kns has decided I have to pay to read,I have decided NOT to go there.

I use to go in the govols forum, but I never posted in there.I remember this one guy that came in there ,I think his name was gamecock-stud.He was in there all the time talking smack and using profanity.I think it was because of him that they shut down the forum.

I agree with you all. I live in Florida, so all my Vol info comes from the internet or my family. GoVols kept me happy until I found Volnation and the Tennessean. I browsed around to other Vol forums but I have to say Volntion is head and shoulders above them all, keep up the good work.

Great post, I live in Texas and share almost ever sentiment offered thus far.

This is a great site, I hope it keeps going strong for a LONG time.

I visited the govols.com site EVERY single day for about 8 years, then Lundy and Adams took over and I rarely go there any more at all.

How does this board stay up with no advertising, anyway? somebody must be knocking down the corn to be able to privately fund this without any membership fees :yourock:
