My fiancee thinks I need help

If you had to choose, I usually do both, but if you had to choose 1

After that 71 yard TD run my McCluster yesterday, I went to the liquor cabinet, grabbed a bottle of Jim Beam, and proceeded to fix myself a drink. My fiancee walked by and said " really? your gonna drink because of a stupid football game, it's just a game, its really sad how personally you take it when the Vols lose, you're obsessed, you need help".

Now, I don't resort to drinking when the Vols lose, not every time. I'm not a daily drinker, nor do drink to solve my problems. This is not an alcoholism thread.

I love the Vols, I watch or listen to, every game and have for 24 years. When I was 16, I lost a job at a movie theater after my manager called me into work on my day off during the Florida Game, I told the crazy lady "I quit".

I schedule my Saturdays in the fall around the games, I've converted all of her family into UT fans, and I bought her an Eric Berry jersey.

Is this normal, or am I really insane? I think she's the one who is crazy. Your thoughts?

my only question is, who bought the beam instead of jack? if you bought the beam, there may be an issue.

of course to make her feel better about your drinking, you could get an eight ball and some strippers and she wouldn't even care about the drinking anymore. you could go through a gallon and she would be ok with it.

Can't do that, she's really hot. Plus she did wear the Jersey to the USC game, and painted her face, and wore vol earrings... btw, she did not even know who UT was before we met, we live in VA.

She sounds like a good one.

A dose of perspective and moderation is always a positive thing, even when it involves UT football.

I hope that you would not quit your current job if you had to work on the third Saturday in October.

There are just some things that transcend UT football; God, Family (i.e. your fiancée), and Country are among them. I think you realize this and are just looking for confirmation from a reasonable perspective.

My fiance' tells me the same thing. "You take this stuff way to seriously" or "its just a stupid game", when she tells me these things I politely ask her to leave the room :).

Your not crazy and neither is she. You are just passionate and she doesn't get that yet. It will only get worse unless she becomes a fan and shares your passion.

My wife, is a Florida State graduate and fan. But she understands that my passion for the Vols is greater than hers for the Noles and that is what our Saturday's revolve around. We always do something as a family before or after the game, but when the game is on I am left alone to watch or she joins in and shouts for the Vols.

Bottom line, make her understand that this is just a part of who you are and is not up for debate.

I've dated many girls who say the same sort of things to me when I get so mad about the games; maybe that's why they keep leaving......well, whatever TN football comes before them anyways. All kidding aside, I think a lot of us are in or have had their ladies say the same sort of thing.

I actually finished off the Jack after Mt. Cody's boodacious man boobs blocked our field goal against Bama, luckily, she was getting her hair done.
