Dear Mr. Hamilton,
I have been a UT football fan all of my life. I have had many members of my family attend the university. As a fan of the football team I attend atleast 3-4 games per year. I have grown up on the tradition of Tennessee Football and have noticed the program has taken a few steps backwards. I am grateful for the job you have done in your current position and I am aware that your job is no easy career but the reason you get paid what you do is to make sure to do what is best for the university.
Phil Fulmer is a good man, he has been an admirable ambassador of our program, and in years past, helped the University’s football team achieve an uncommon measure of success. However, it is quite clear now, to the most passionate fans as well as the most unbiased bystander, that he is no longer able to field a championship caliber team. The game has passed him by, unfortunately, and I have no faith that the University of Tennessee’s pride and joy, its football team, will reach any of its goals, or achieve the levels that we can reasonably expect, with Fulmer at the helm. Rather, I believe under his leadership, the program will struggle to remain competitive on a national basis – and the program will suffer financially.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this email, and let me leave you with one request. Please make an expedient change before our tradition is further tarnished by lackluster play and embarrassing losses. No man is bigger than the program, and despite the fact that Phil is a good man, he is no longer the man for the job. You have done a fantastic job with the hire for our basketball program, we are confident that you can do the same our football team. The only thing worse than doing what we have to do, is suffering any longer than necessary.
Sincerely,
I took the original, and just changed the first section, Maybe it will start sounding very familar.
