I thought we might try a place for those who are interested in old cars, and if have pics of their cars would like to post them. Mine is a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville convertrible my Dad bought new. It has never been resold, so it is a one owner. It has the 389 4v eng, turbohydramatic trans, AC, power windows, leather int, and still has the original spare. The engine has never had the valve covers off with 103,000 miles on the odometer. I dated my wife in this car, Dad let me drive it on special dates when I was in high school. My car then was a '57 Chevy 150, black.

vn.jpg post.jpgThis was taken on Daytona Beach Feb. 1965. That's Richard Petty with my Mom. This is was taken off of a copy of the original so its not very sharp. Mom and I took the original into the pits after the Spring '65 race in Bristol, and Petty autographed it. They would let you do that back then. I met many of the drivers of the sixties in the Bristol pits/infield. My favorites were Fireball Roberts & Junior Johnson. I got Fireball's autograph about 2 weeks before his crash that he died from. Here's a trivia question, What do Fireball & Junior have in common besides being race drivers?

Junior and Ned Jarrett wrecked. Fireball was caught up in the wreck. Fireball burnt up in the crash.

That isn't the answer I was looking for, but you may be correct in what happened in that wreck. I'm not sure if Junior was in that wreck. Since it's been a while, I'll go ahead and give my answer. Both of them had the same real first name - Glenn. Maybe someone knows about Junior being in that wreck, I'll ask my parents. You know it still makes me sad to remember Fireballs' death. They probably could have saved him today. That wreck led to Ned Jarrett retiring early, he pulled Fireball from the car. I cried when I learned of his passing, I've got the Bristol Program he autographed for me when I was about 16.
