I guarantee you Georgia will not be any lower than 7th in total D. They're definitely better than MSU, Arkansas, Kentucky, Vandy, etc

Can't disagree too much except SC is too high and UGA is too low. Everyone has an opinion, I guess.

You realize bama lost 9 starters on defense right?

Bama's secondary is going to be really young and inexperienced. However, that is Saban's specialty. They may get burnt in the first couple of games but as the season progresses they'll get consistently better.

Josh Chapman has already proven to be an able replacement to Cody.

Hightower steps right in and replaces McClain.

Dareus wasn't a starter last year and was the MVP of the bowl game.

Bama will be fine on D.

I hope all of those five star replacements they have were overrated. They may have some trouble the first couple of games, but they will be very good by the time we play them.

Bama lost 10 starters on D, all new linemen, and lb's. I know that a lot of the new starters have significant experience, but there will be a dropoff from last season. The secondary is very young. In my opinion, this dropoff will keep Bama from repeating as National Champs.

Bama's "new" d-lineman Marcel Dareus is the best d-lineman in the league in his 1st year starting. They'll be ok

bama doesn't need a defense thier offense will put 40 on the board each game and keep the d off the field. unlike our d which will rank as the leagues worst because our offense will be 3 and out all the time keeping our average d on the field all day. no depth on our d will result in disaster

Being OK and Dominant are two completely different things. I will agree Bama will be OK on D in 2010 they won't be a Dominate D like last season. Bama rode that D last season to a NC while most of the time the O struggled (see UT vs. Bama 09 for details).

Football is a Team Sport, it takes all 11 players to make a great D. D Linemen no matter how good can't cover WR's, and Bama has issues in their secondary.

I am not saying Bama will be terrible, I am just saying they can expect a drop off from last season on D. The secondary has issues, and a big test will come when Bama goes to Arkansas with Mallet throwing it all over the field. I like Arkansas' chances in that game.

It is too bad that the Vols won't have much of a passing game this season because teams that do will case Bama some problems until the secondary gets up to speed.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't see USCjr having a better D than Florida and Miss St. ahead of Auburn? As bad as I hate to say it Auburn will be better this year. Arkansas has a chance to be good, maybe 2nd in the west behind Bama but if they do it will be because of their offense, not their defense. If Arkansas is gonna get the Bama monkey off their back this year will be their best chance. Here is the way I see SEC defenses rankings this year......

1. Bama
2. Florida
3. LSU
4. Auburn
5. Tenn
6. Georgia
7. Arkansas
8. USCjr
9. Miss St.
10. Kentucky
11. Ole Miss
12. Vandy

It takes a healthy amount of boldness to put out predictions at this time. I defintely don't have the balls to do it.

The secondary has issues,Kinda like the 09 O-Line was gonna suffer from losing three starters ( Smith, Caldwell and Davis) from the '08 team.....Oh wait :) and a big test will come when Bama goes to Arkansas with Mallet throwing it all over the field. Bama's DB's will be young, but they do have some very talented players. This secondary will in short order be better than the departed secondary. Folks talk about Darious (sp) but truth be known, Darious is no match for Dameon Square. Hightower is more talented than McClain and should fill the bill and them some. NG Chapman @ 315 is the strongest player on the team and has had tons of playing time. He'll be a Junior this year and will make people forget about Mnt. Cody.
