Admittedly, I may be a bit biased here because Mikey has been one of my favorite drivers since DW retired as I was a huge DW fan. But even as a fan I realize its about time for Mikey to give up the driving part of things and run the business. Its not a big surprise to see Reut outperform Mikey but to see a rookie in Ambrose run so well in the MWR equipment must have helped make Mikey's mind up.

I'm sure everyone here has heard the rumor of Truex Jr coming to MWR next year. Now there are rumblings that he "could" be in the car as early as Chicago in 2 weeks. I'd say the chances of that happening are honestly about 50/50 because you have to work out a lot of things with sponsors to get something like that done. But if Truex is ready to leave EGR then I don't see why they'd force him to stick around longer. They are saying they would replace him with Almirola in the 1. That's not a bad move but if I were EGR I would replace Truex with the other DEI outcast - Regan Smith. He's really impressed me with what he's got out of that Furniture Row car in their limited appearances.

Back on subject........regardless of when Truex gets in the MWR cars - be it this season or next - the fact is that MWR is going to have a pretty talented lineup of drivers. Now also factor in the rumors that Kasey Kahne could be coming to MWR next year as well and you have a VERY strong team all of a sudden. If Mikey is able to do that then MWR should be one of the top teams in Cup. I'd say with the equipment they have now - throw in Truex and Kahne - then they'd only be behind Hendrick, Roush, SHR, and Gibbs.

And I'm glad that Waltrip wants to continue racing a part time schedule at the tracks he likes. He could do that under the current rules since Ambrose isn't listed as a MWR entry. He would have Reutimann, Truex Jr, and Kahne as full time entries and have himself as a part time 4th team. They could still run Ambrose out of the stable as long as its still listed as JTG Racing too.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens - I'm sure Truex is a slam dunk to be in the Napa car next year or maybe even this year. But if they got Kahne too that would be huge for the organization.

I still don't think that MWR has the best cars yet but they have improved leaps and bounds this year. When their new generation car rolls out late August/early September they should be even better.

Definately, they are no longer the pushover team that used to show up at the tracks hoping to make the race. They can now actually compete. They are a ways from being a Hendricks or a Gibbs, but they are making strides.

It is now official, Martin Truex Jr. will join the team in 2010 and drive the No. 56 Toyota.

Michael Waltrip will remain in the No. 55 and will drive a part-time schedule next season, including the Daytona 500.

"I am turning my car over to a guy I think can win the championship," Waltrip said. "I just believe at this time in my career, Martin is the right guy."

"I think we're going to go on to do really good things," said Truex, who will return to the No. 56, which he raced in every series before he reached NASCAR's national touring series.

Truex is a figment of the "hype machine" he is... well...Dale Earnhardt Jr. with less talent.

Dale Jr. with less talent? Wow, Truex must REALLY suck!
