When is the last time you heard a recruit say that he chose a school because they beat another school? I ask because I see posts on the reg that claim a game is a must win if we want "X" because he is in attendance and will sign with the winner.

I don't think it necessarily means a kid will choose a school, but it definitely will add to their experience while they are here. What's a better recruiting pitch? People leaving the stadium in a trance filing out like cattle? Or seeing the town rockin the rest of the evening after a big win. I think our game day atmosphere takes a back seat to no one. And I believe it is only enriched when we win games as opposed to lose them. I got to work the strip in the mid to late 90s and there was nothing like it after a big win.

I think it's less that and more the fact that if a player is on the fence and considering two schools and sees one of them beat the other, that'll have an influence on his decision

I really appreciate the level headed responses, but I really want to hear from The dudes that think the final score dictates where a kid goes.

Respectfully disagree
Give me an example.

UGA vs Tenn is a very important game and it matters a lot for future recruiting battles. We get the bragging rights. And that's what really matters because a lot of recruiting battles are fought with Georgia.

I thought we lost Brandon Powell last year after losing to Florida. Someone who keeps up better than me will have to verify.

Powell was going to be very very tough to hang on to anyway but I think he de committed a little later in the year.

The lists of visitors last night was mostly GA natives like 9 out of 11. That was a huge win not only for butch but for the recruiting battle in GA also.

I believe it does matter. Fact is kids are waiting g to see if ut takes the next step which is beat uga or uf or bama. They want to play for championships. So yes wins do matter they want progress

Wins matter in general, I agree. The question is why people seem to think that the result of a single game is going to dictate where a kid goes. Other than the LB from KY eliminating us when we lost to KY, I can't think of an example of a kid saying yeah I picked X because they beat Y.
