I know most have mixed feeling on the transfer portal and NIL. Most believe it is essentially free agency for the top teams like Bama, UGA, and OSU to pillage talent from the small schools and keep their stranglehold on the CFP. I disagree.

I think this year has proven just how valuable the portal and NIL are at finally creating true parity in college football. We have 2 schools in the CFP this year who were both below .500 football teams just 2 short years ago. And a big part of that success is due to their portal additions. It has put them on even ground with the Bamas, UGAs, and OSU's of the college football world. We're seeing Ole Miss load up in the portal for 2024 in what seems likely to result in a CFP appearance for Ole Miss next near. We're also seeing Bama and UGA unable to hoard 5 star talent on their 2nd and 3rd strings, as those players are leaving to find more playing time or better NIL deals.

And with conference re-alignment ending the 2 division format, your top schools are going to find it harder and harder top dominate annually. Take Bama next year for instance, with , UGA, Tenn, Mizzou, LSU, OU, and Auburn on the schedule. They could easily lose 3 games with that schedule, whereas typically they would only have to beat LSU and Ole Miss head to head to get to the SEC title game. UGA has Bama, Texas, Tenn, Ole Miss, and Auburn. Again, they no longer have to only beat us and UF or Mizzou in order to reach the SEC title game. I, for one, am enjoying this new era of college football. It's exciting to see new schools enter the national title picture instead of the same 5-6 teams seemingly every single year.
