per Texas' Rivals Board. FWIW, some of their reliable posters are saying they've heard it's a done deal.

He's probably just saying that he isn't going to take the job here at the real UT...BUT I really hope its to announce he is coming to UTK...GO VOLS...there are only brighter days ahead for the VOLNATION!!!

Whether Muschamp eventually goes back to Texas or not, this is probably a good move to salvage some recruiting. Right now the Vols need to keep some skin in the game.

:crossfingers: He seems to have the work ethic, and could be here a long time. Honestly, no HC would take it at this point; signing day is friggin three weeks off!

Other than Dungy, I could not realistically think of a better hire within those parameters.

Gruden ain't coming. Cowher ain't coming.

Maybe he saw the writing on the wall. Mack's new contract meant Muschamp would have to wait longer for the keys to the program.

I just hope we get somebody in here soon to salvage this recruiting class.

I will believe it when I see it with any coaching hire. I'm willing to bet money that he just says that he is staying at Texas.

Man I hope this is true...I wanted WM as my #1 last yr...his players play with his heart and he could be the type of guy that could keep alot of our recruiting class together especially defensive guys. He is the type of guy our players could really rally around after scumbag Kiffin proved to all us orange blinder fans that Al Davis was right.

That would be scary quick. It will be kind of funny if they hire Muschamp in the morning and he turns out to be a good coach here. Hamilton did a thorough search for Kiffin and that blew up in his face.

Seems unlikely that they worked anything out that fast. At most, I'd think Hamilton has known for a day or two.

It's a rumor....Odds are Muschamp is not going to be hired here...Big mistake if he is because he will end up dumping us like Lane did as soon as Brown retires.

It will be awhile till Brown retires. More than 4 years. So I'll take that - we need damage control... immediately.

Considering Hamilton was in Denver, I really doubt he knew this was going to happen.

Kind of crappy that "the backstabber" couldn't wait till his boss was back in town to quit.

As long as he doesn't leave us in the lurch 3 weeks to signing day who cares? It isn't the fact that Kiffin left for USC it is the fact that he did it in the middle of the night right before one of the most important periods in college football. If Muschamp is hired and if he eventually leaves for Texas it won't be the end of the world as long as we have an opportunity to hire another coach with some time to spare.

He's a journeyman. I think the chances of him leaving for another job are too high given the current situation.
