Obviously I'm glad he's here, but I remember during the coaching search, we were all in on Frost or Chip initially and I heard y'all had either set up an interview or already had interviewed Dan before we hired him, does anyone know why that didn't happen?

Not sure. I think Currie was flirting with him at some point but y'all swooped in and made an offer. Who knows. What we do know is TN's bots suck. They botch every coaching and athletic director hire.

Exactly. John Currie talked to him but never officially offered. It was even reported that Mullen was just waiting for the official offer. Could of got him because UF was dicking around trying to get Kelly or Frost

Maybe, but dude we have a million different ways to ruin a coaching search. We do not hire good coaches, so it was never going to happen. We are basically like Job in the bible. I am not sure what else can be taken from us.

Hugh Freeze is at Liberty. No other major program will be looking unless Auburn finally pulls the plug on Gus. It's a golden opportunity. But our university will be greedy as hell and not eat the loss on the buyout. Ignoring that'd make it back the very first game of Hugh Freezes career alone. Lol

He had an offer. They didn’t “swoop in”. He was their third choice and waited for them.

Because we're Tennessee and we can't have nice things.

As Butch Jones would say "Fake news". Mullen was never offered the job. It came out that Schiano was privately offered the job basically right away.

John Currie interviewed Mullen. Is not the same as being offered a job.

Got a link to “it came out”? Privately means no one knows but pretend otherwise...or fake news. 😏 He interviewed Mullen and was waiting for an answer when twice rebuffed Florida settled for him as their willing third choice. Currie anticipated that and had the Schiano package queued up. People want to torture themselves for fiction.

I mean no disrespect but several people close to the program have hinted at what I've said over the years. I don't wanna argue. I choose to believe those people. That's all. If you don't that's absolutely fine.

Nameless several people doing that hinting thing. I’ll go with the permitted bs thing. Anyone HINTING that Mullen would’ve jumped without waiting for Florida are deluding themselves and you.

Or Florida...since that was his preference.

I'm not saying Dan Mullen didn't prefer Florida. Of course he did dude. But if you think for two seconds, Florida spent weeks pursuing Chip Kelly and Scott Frost. Dan Mullen wasn't even called until both of those said no. Dan Mullen isn't going to sit around and wait for a program who didn't even seem interested in him. Just use some logic dude. When we were talking to Mullen it was literally almost a month before Florida even offered. The dude wasn't waiting anything out. Lol

Nobody could talk to Mullen until the season was over. Florida hired him that first weekend. What’s this “month” stuff?

All I know Tenn must have one of Dollar Tree discount cards. Tn will not spend any money on a good coach. They have proved that the last 3 hires. Sooner than later the covid crowds will be the norm

I'm sorry to break it to you, people absolutely talked to Mullen before the season was over. Look you have your opinion, okay. That's fine. Let's just keep at "agree with to disagree"

Also it's just as simple as I have people that I trust indicate or flat out say the things that I've said. You have no reason to trust me and that's okay. Just like the Dormady thing we disagreed on. No hard feelings. You have no reason to trust me. So it's all good.

I would, but you trot your OPINION out as something confirmed and you’re simply full of crap on this one. Currie formally interviewed him when it was allowed. That weekend after Mississippi State’s season finale. If anyone talked to him earlier it was Florida. Since he was their HC by Sunday.
