Mullen pulls QB scholarship offer...

That stinks for this kid. UT is definitely on his list, but his stats aren't what I would call great. That doesn't always mean everything, I realize. He just doesn't seem to me like a QB Kiffin would go after, but I guess you never know. I think only being 6ft tall would hurt him in Kiffins pro-style system as well.

I wonder if Miss St. will go after Tajh Boyd or Raymond Cotton? They might even go after the Rolliston kid. They would all seem to fit Mullens system a little better. I bet he will definitely go after a dual threat QB.

Yea, 6'0 and 180lbs.... It is just sad that UT and Vandy contacted him and he stood firm to his commitment only to have his offer yanked less than 2 months from signing day.... Now almost everyone has their guy so he will probably end up at a UAB, Troy, etc...

The problem with this is that they must reside in Starkville, Mississippi... This will be a difficult hurdle for Mullen to overcome!

not a very classy move by Mullen.

But I don't think UT has any interest here. No need to bring in this kid to compete with Stephens and Coleman.

FWIW...I am starting to have faith that our QB situation will not be as bad as everyone seems to think it will be. I think the three QBs were very poorly coached and never grasped the offense. Under Kiffin and staff we should see an immediate difference and the reaffirmation that he can coach and that it was time to move in a new direction.

To be honest though, the kid probably didn't fit in his system. Either way, he's the devil. Probably. Well, Probably not, but maybe. No, he's not the devil. Yeah, nowhere close. He's just not nice. Well, he could be nice, but who knows? He's probably a nice guy.

Yeah, I knew they had a commit from Russell, but it is still a jerk thing to do. I can see his point, but he should do like Kiffin and honor the scholarship and just be honest with the kid and tell him he doesn't fit the system and he probably would not get to play. More than likely the kid would pull it himself, but at least he would put the ball back in his court and give him an option. Russell really doesn't fit Mullens system either, but he looks to be a much better QB than Hollingsworth.

Didn't we basically tell Petty that he wasn't good enough and pull his scholly? How is that any different than this?

Because we're TN.

What's strange is this guy IS a dual-threat QB.

Not to mention, the QB they have now is the pro-style guy that WE would need.

Guess he's just a bad player.

By S Robertson. Hollingsworth says that Stanford, UAB and Troy have told him he has a spot if anything changes, while Tennessee has told him to get in touch with them if he has second thoughts about his verbal. He says his verbal is solid, and that it would take a lot to change that.

you can see the date this info came out so you know its from the previous staff so I dont think we will go after this kid, but I thought it was interesting

Why is this such a D@$# move by Mullen? Yes, it sux for this kid, but Croom is gone, and that is who he committed too.
While I am sure this kid is upset now at the prospect of going to Troy,Samford or where ever, imagine how upset he would be his senior year after realizing he was never going to see the field for Miss St. becasue he is not the guy the coach wants.
Honesty can be harsh, but in the long run it pays off. It seems down the road, this kid will be thankful he didn't go where he is not wanted. He will find a team tha wants him.
