Congratulations on a great year. I'm a lifelong UNC fan, but have been following the Vols very closely as this season has progressed. A lot of us Carolina fans are very impressed with what Bruce Pearl has done in Knoxville in such a short time... and we were certainly impressed with the team's effort last night. Man, they almost pulled it off. I was really surprised that they never gave in -- even after tOSU had come back to take a lead. Tennessee is now my second favorite team.

Y'all are going to be VERY good next year.. and even better in years to come. To me, the biggest hurdle for this UT program was making it to the Sweet Sixteen and this team accomplished that with flying colors. After last night's performance, recruits are definitely going to take a much harder look at your program.

Most UNC fans would love to be able to establish our football program on the same elite level as UNC basketball. The fact that Pearl has been able to do this so quickly at UT where y'all have such a strong football tradition gives me hope for Carolina. I just don't see why we can't be good in both.

Once again, congrats on a great Basketball season!

Thanks. I'll be pulling for the Tar Heels the rest of the tournament. I have them winning it all in my bracket.

as someone who lives in NC, and being a TN fan, it's rare to hear a tar heel fan with somewhat of a level head.....thanks and good luck.

All I hear from Carolina fans here are what NVC posted. They have adopted UT as their SEC team, which is very difficult for hard-core ACC teams to do. And it has happened in spite of UT ditching a Carolina guy (Buzz) for a guy who got his start at BC.

In fact, many UNC fans refer to UT as Bizarro UNC - and it kinda makes sense:

-bright, almost flourescent, identifiable color combined with white.
-TBA and Smith Ctr are almost identical except for color
-Both state schools
-In neighboring states
-heavy tradition - UNC in hoops, UT in fball, with the other sport gaining momentum
-both hoops teams play an up-tempo, fun style of bball

i would somewhat agree with that statement.....

That's the truth. Both sidelines of the court are hard to look at on TV, especially the state in the middle of the court at the Dean Dome. Am I just imagining this, but didn't UT's court used to have the state of Tennessee in the middle?

This of course will change when TBA goes Back in Black, but have you ever been to a game at the Smith Ctr? It's eerie how much it reminds me of TBA (now that fans actually go to Vols games).

I think you're right, and I liked it better that way than the humongous TENNESSEE there now.

Also, random point, but a friend of mine noted how the SEC is the only league that flips the "SEC" logo in front of the free throw lines on the court. Every other league has it facing the basket - SEC courts have it facing the player. Why? No idea? Why does it matter? I don't know that either.

I haven't even been to a game at TBA. :(

Put it on your calendar right now and do what you gotta do to go to a game there. It's not as cool if you didn't experience games in the 90s when you could hear a cricket fart in there, but it will still be worth it - next year they're gonna rock that joint like crazy.

I don't know about everyone else, but I appreciate the kind words regarding out basketball team. It's nice to see that fans of basketball powerhouses such as UNC are enjoying the Tennessee brand of basketball. Good luck in the tournament.
