MTU setting for Xbox Live?

Both mine and my son's Xbox were getting the same MTU setting message earlier. I changed nothing, my connects now but his doesn't.

UPDATE: Now neither one will connect.......again. I changed nothing.

Call your ISP. If that doesnt work, follow this site and the instructions to port forward your router. There is no MTU setting on your console, this can only be adjusted by your ISP.

I called my ISP twice, the first guy told me there was nothing he could do because the problem was with XBL. The second guy told me that my connection speed must be to slow and that I should call XBL and see if than can lower their minimum MTU speed. :blink:


After all that I unplugged every power and ethernet cable, waited about 5 minutes and plugged it all back in..............voilà, it works now. I don't care why I just care that it is.

Call your ISP and demand to speak with a supervisor, they are completely wrong and I would let them know what I thought of their customer service.
