is quite possibly in the top 5 worst teams in the FBS right now. They barely beat Memphis and lost to WKU. I actually don't think they're completely horrible when it comes to talent or coaching, but for some reason they can't seem to close out a ball game unless the other team is just truly, pathetically bad (i.e. Tiger High).

I graduated from there and enjoyed the hell out of their 2009 run, but I'm pretty sure the Vols will hang 50+ on them at Neyland in November.

They're not that bad, but they have pretty much no chance of a bowl game this year.

I like MTSU and all, but their fans (and by fans, I mean the MTSU lifers) are terrible. So many of them think they're going to beat UT this year.

How are they still in FBS? They don't contribute anything to football.

If they lost to WKU, they're bad.

I believe we may have 3 of the worst teams in FBS in the general area: Memphis, MTSU, and Western.

So true. Thing is, I didn't know a single student (I graduated this past May) who thought they were any good. The only people who seem to be delusional enough to believe MTSU has a chance are the townies who were born and raised in the Boro, attended college there, and never left. They're a pretty sad bunch, and getting on the level of Vandy fans when it comes to self delusions.

I go to school at MTSU and I just laugh at how they think they actually have a chance against us. I get so irritated when I hear people talk about it haha

If you go to school at MTSU, wouldn't "us" be MTSU and "they" be the Vols. Just wondering

Well I've been a UT fan my entire life and come to all the home games. The only reason I'm at MTSU is because UT doesn't offer aerospace as a major. Saturday will be my 64th UT game so I'm just used to saying that haha

I always root for MTSU but I cant wait to see the looks on their faces when we slaughter them and they remember their place on the Tennessee football totem pole.

I got my Masters at MTSU in the aerospace dept after doing my undergrad at UT. They (as in the few who actually care about MTSU) have a huge little brother syndrome when it comes to UT. Probably didn't help that I had my office on campus decorated Orange and White. All the faculty hated it, which was great fun lol.

Similar story here...graduated MTSU several years back in a major not offered at UT. MTSU sports are a nice local diversion, but the Vols are what matter.

its sad that the largest university in the state has a speck of students at their games. But that's what happens when you allow your freshman and even sophmores to live off campus instead of requiring them to live in the dorm.

Agreed. The game Thursday night felt like a high school game compared to a UT game

i was at mtsc when it changed to mtsu (lbj was president). graduated from ut. when i returned there a few years ago to pick up some brochures for my daughter, the lady at the reception desk was giving me directions. i asked if she was referring to the student union building (that's what it was in my day). she looked dumbfounded and said, "nobody's called it that in years." kinda makes you feel your age. i have fond memories of those days, the blue raiders, and brian oldfield (the shotputter), but you're right, mtsu was a better fit in the ovc. its nothing but cannon fodder for the big boys.
