MTSU guard says Golden was gassed

He definitely hurt himself in the second half. Strangely enough, I'm pretty sure it was on the runout that Skyler threw him. He was hobbling the rest of the game after that layup. If that was it, I guess he must have landed wrong.
Yes you are correct. I posted it at the time it happened on the game thread.

Trae has been gassed in the second half of the last few games and it's noticeable. At the beginning of the year he was in incredible shape and I'm pretty sure he could have played the whole game if necessary. Some people keep pointing out his minutes per game and say that's average for most pgs but it's not that simple. We rely on Trae to do WAY more than pgs on other big time teams. He MUST bring the ball down the court under heavy pressure every possession because no one else can. When he comes out, he has to go back in immediately because we struggle to get it up the floor. Then when we get it up the floor he has the ball in his hands for more than half the possession and has to try to create something when the shot clock winds down. So it's not simply that he plays a lot of minutes, it's that he has to do so much during those minutes and I truly believe it just wore him down by the end of the season.

Great post. Golden is a fine player and I am glad Tennessee has him. He was hurt late and gave his all the Vols. Only complaint about Golden is he a step slow on defense, but so was Loften.

Check the minutes played by UT players, compared to Middle players in the boxscore.

Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders vs. Tennessee Volunteers - Box Score - March 19, 2012 - ESPN

Massey was the only player with minutes played over 30, whereas Golden, McBee and Stokes all played over 30 minutes for UT. Part of the reason for this was that Middle had alot of guys sitting out minutes in foul trouble early in the game. Middle had 5 bench guys playing significant minutes in the game. UT had 3. At the end this payed dividends for them. More guys more rested. Had to have been a factor at the end, IMHO.
