ON3 lists him at 270 lbs. 247 lists him at 305.
Big difference, anyone know his (approximate) correct weight?
DT for us or SDE? I'm assuming DT.

I'd say nose. His HUDL says 290. He honestly looks at least that.

Teammate of TJ White. Nice offer list. Bring CRG all these high-3 to low-4 star guys and let him do his thing.

Let's get both these Mississippi kids to Knoxville.

He’s ready to make his college choice next month, and he’s already picked the date: July 18th, the same day his teammate and fellow 2026 prospect TJ White plans to announce.
Dereon Albert nears decision after official visits, final stop at Mississippi State

Scouting report via 247Sports: 3-4 interior defensive lineman that shows the ability to win with a bevy of different pass rush options at the point of attack, including twitch, athleticism and power. Estimated at a shade under 6-foot-2 and just north of 300-pounds, Albert’s unique blend of athletic traits and stout frame makes him a difficult assignment for opposing offensive linemen on a down-to-down basis. Although he has a tendency to play a tad high off the line of scrimmage, the Magnolia State native demonstrates impressive first step quickness in addition to active hands that help him create consistent leverage and overcompensate against bigger and girthier blockers. The Jackson Academy standout also exhibits excellent pad level, using his compact and powerful frame to his advantage, showing the ability to unlock and explode out of his hips to help him create persistent penetration in the run game. Projects as a high level impact starter at the Power Four level that possesses the size, physical tools and technical refinement to add immediate dividends to his program on Saturdays.

Albert has racked up 246 tackles, including 61.5 TFL and 22.5 sacks, over the past 3 years.

I’m not sure. Why wouldn’t we take both? Something weird happened there. You don’t choose USF over Tennessee. So did we back off? If so, why? I thought Garber loved him.
I don’t think anything weird happened at all. Seems to me like just AP made an incorrect assumption that local kid + Rodney Garner effect + competition being lower level schools = Vol lock.

As you might imagine he’s getting grilled about it on TOS. These are some of his responses:

“Told me he just felt like it was the best place for him. Apparently almost didn’t come on his visit to Tennessee last weekend because he wanted to go ahead and commit to South Florida then but was convinced to take the visit.”

“Schools like USF and Cincy have money now…they are willing to offer more to players like Garcia that they see as the key to their class.”

“Rodney spent a ton of time last weekend…just felt more comfortable at south Florida and again for USF they viewed him as a marquee piece to their class.”

Get paid more to play at South Florida and then make a premium in the transfer portal once you show you can play.

Yeah, rev share is going really change some of these recruitments. If SEC schools view a kid like Garcia as a solid prospect but want to throw most of their money at guys they view as elite, while smaller schools, knowing they aren't landing the top 100 type players, decide to thrown their at money guys that are less of a priority for the big boys, we could see this type of thing happening a lot.

I can’t believe people pay for recruiting “info” in this era.

I could see it 10 years ago. But now? Just wasting money away.
