I didn't know anything about his personal circumstances. I suspected at the time that he was picked by the MAGA crowd and agreed to by the moderates only because they were tired of looking foolish.

With Johnson appearing to not have even a single dollar in the stock market, a savings account, or a retirement plan, the new speaker may have plans to use his congressional position as a springboard to something more lucrative once he’s done in government. That could happen once he’s done in government, but if the new speaker sees a boon while in office, he certainly wouldn’t be the first member of Congress to do so.

Nothing will get done in Congress with crazy Mike Johnson leading the House GOP.

House Republicans just passed their aid to Israel bill--with the $14 billion coming from the IRS. Ha: That is a non-starter with the Senate and the bill will go nowhere. Let's all laugh at Republican hypocrisy and GOP BS when we read the below headline. They prattle endlessly about the deficit--oh, it's so horrible, we must reduce it, blah, blah--and it's abject nonsense. They turn around and want to cut significant funding from the agency that's responsible for bringing in government revenue, which would result in lower revenues and a higher deficit. This is why people pay no attention to all the claptrap spewed by Republicans.

In terms of the electoral college vote, it wasn't close. As a matter of fact, when Trump won in 2016, he described his 306-232 victory as being a "landslide."
