Welcome to the board. I haven't lived in Knox for a while but I recommend Neyland stadium on Saturdays for football :hi:

I found Gus' overrated. It was so hyped up, but in the end was just subs and fries. Good when drunk, but I made it there 3 times in 5 years. If I wanted a sub, I hit up Jmikes or Nixon's.

Oh, to actually contribute to the thread: I go regularly to the Downtown Bar & Grill. Love some microbrew there.

Lame. Nixon's is horrible. I live out west now and miss the K-Ville Deli's so much. Gus's, Benjis', Ashley's, and especially Vic and Bill's. Maybe they aren't what they were, but they are better than these bullcrap chains. There are no steamed stubs in the west. Lame.

Nixon's is steamed subs...not sure what you had there, but I get the club with provolone.

I think that vic and bills is no more...now the campus deli, or something.

Ahh but there are no fresh green chilies here in the south and New Mexico has some of the finest food in the land. Not to mention the ski season Taos just had......but yes the deli selection in NM is just not quite what it is in the south.

Vic and Bills is now on Broadway across from Fisher Tire.

Buffalo wild wings on the strip is awesome.. especially on gameday and also monday nights for Tall Paul. Roaming Knome (formerly charlie peppers) across from buff WW is awesome for live music on the weekends. RT's and Hannahs are good for looking for girls.

it's sad that the 1st place you mention is a chain. But then again I'm one of those old "I remember when the Strip..." kinda posters

If you go to Urban Bar, definitely get the Death Wish wings, it doesn't matter how much you like spicy food, they will rock your world.

I like Roaming Gnome a lot, although I think it's because I thought Charlie Pepper's was the best place on the Strip last year. The servers and female bartenders are probably the best looking on the Strip, and definitely have the best uniforms too.

Mellow Mushroom and Half Barrel have a nice selection of beer on tap. Other than that I'm not sure they're really worth going to.

Bar Knoxville should be avoided at all costs. . . haha

One of my favorites is Downtown Grill and Brewery. They have amazing microbrew and good happy hour specials. Also, most places in the Old City are good...Urban Bar, Manhattans, Patrick Sullivans, etc. On the strip, I've always been partial to Hannah's. I've never been a big Cool Beans fan. Also, Half Barrel is good, and Charlie Peppers was, so I'm assuming the Roaming Gnome is, too.

a great place to eat dinner is Raferty's. it's one of the best restaurants in knoxville.

also, if you really want to hang out to get some sun and check out some really nice coeds. i would go to College Park apartment. that is a great place to hang out, especially during summer.
