Moving the ball forward????

Not sure. But watch the video posted above yours. Center puts his hand down to mark the spot for the others to setup on. The guard is crawling up until he sees the spot. He then moves the ball.
Not sure why but it was intentional. And maybe it happens all the time and maybe this time it was just over done. But I’ve never seen it more obvious.
After seeing that view, I take back it being a bad call. However, I don't think they were trying to cheat/gain an advantage because I don't think they ever intended to snap the ball. IMO, they were were going to try and draw them offsides. They went fast to try and sell a quick snap and lined up to far forward. Seems like they threw the flag due to the whole line moving up so far, not the ball.

It was stupid since we were just trying to draw an offsides and let seconds tick.

I think they were trying to increase the likelihood of an offsides penalty by crowding the dline - trigger a jump or make a small movement more obvious. Probably worth trying if not for the need to keep the clock running.
