The top three have to be Auburn, Tenn and LSU. Because they have won a NC in the sort of recent past (1998) they think a national championship is their birthright. I look at the fans at LSU and Auburn and my reaction to their firing coaches is " what a bunch of 3 year olds" and I am sure that is what other people think of the mighty Vol fan base. Leaving at halftime in the Mo. game is an indictment of how fickle our fans are. SEC east champs or bust. Never mind the most injuries I have seen in 60 years of watching football- if we dont win the east, fire Butch. What utter nonsense. Those who left saturday should be ashamed, IMO.

maybe OUR Coach will look into a Strength & Conditioning coach in the next few Years. Heck maybe even a QB coach. And to me ,if you buy a ticket and don't want to be there all night so what ? I was glad they left. We hadn't stopped mizzu all night until they left.

Probably a young poster whose on the block for the first time. Thinks he's blazing new ground here. Combination of youth and superior fan-itis.

Nope. We are historically a winning program. If Vandy was 8-3 right now, they would be on Cloud 9 and the whole country would be talking about it. When Tennessee is 8-3, everyone thinks we underachieved. We expect better here and it's justified.

So to be clear, posters like you, Wylo and select others can repeat ad nauseum about firing coaches, it's not acceptable for others to point out, ad nauseum, how ridiculous it is to post about firing coaches.

Hmmm.... I see a solution in this.

There is no hypocrisy involved. Some people want change and speak out, completely justified. However, those who fear change inevitably begin to attack those who speak out, causing retaliation. It's simple human nature when a set group of people start rocking the boat, within a herd. If enough people join the cause, change will come. There is no stopping it.

Ok. Fire jones after 10-3 season.

Who could we get?

Lsu open
Texas open
ND open
FS maybe

(Those above are all better jobs)

Oregon maybe
Lousivile maybe

(Would be competing with them too)

Who would u like to bring in??
I coach high school athletics, and If I was looking at a school and saw that they fired the guy before me For a 10 win season thats reduculus, I wouldnt even consider them. But thats todays society

Bear Bryant, Lambardi, Neyland, couldnt coach today because they would all be fired after there 3rd or 4th season cause they won 5-6 games.

Im butch apologist, BUT THE GRASS IS NOT ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE

Why is it that they fear change? It's more likely they look at the trending of the results and feel it is either too early to fire the guy or heaven forbid they feel he's doing a pretty good job. I'm wait and see at this point but the op is correct when he brings up how ridiculous many are on these pages.

I don't think many Vol fans expect a natty, but a lot of us do expect to win the SEC a couple of times a decade, which until very recently is what we have been able to expect historically. It wasn't reasonable to expect CBJ to do much the first couple of seasons he was here. It was reasonable to expect him to lead the program to the SECCG this season and last but those expectations were dashed by questionable losses (UF in 2015 and SC this year) that had very little to do with personnel issues like injuries. If CBJ wants to find a greener pasture the I think we're better to be rid of him sooner rather than later. If he wants to stay, the new AD needs to make it clear that 2017 is a make or break type season. Some of you younger fans who've only followed for the past decade or so may think that right now we're riding on the gravy rain with biscuit wheels but I can tell you that peaking at 8-9 wins a season is not good enough for this program. If Jones thinks we're ingrates for expecting him to do what Neyland, Dickey, Majors and Fulmer all did then he doesn't need to be here.

You coach high school athletes and can't spell the word ridiculous? Just wondering...

What class do you teach?

To the OP....allow me to introduce you to the fans at UGA.....THOSE are the most unreasonable fans in the SEC. They won a title in 1980 and to this day (36 years later) still think they should be in the discussion every year.

The bottom line is THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE should 1)NEVER lose to an opponent with less talent 2) ALWAYS put up a fight to even the best.

If our team underachieves because of a player being unhappy and dragging the rest of the team down, the HC is not doing his job. If I don't do my job, my superiors WILL find someone who will.

Too many grammatical errors to take you seriously as a high school coach/teacher............or maybe that's just the sad state of our education system.

I agree...but this is gonna go over like a fart in church. Time to get back to that great tradition of enjoying Thanksgiving, soaking in all the great pro and college games on Thurs and Friday...and greatest tradition of all...filling Vandy's stadium with orange and posting a blowout win.

Your coaching carousel doesn't make sense.

ND won't be open
If FSU is open then LSU won't be open
How are Oregon or Louisville going to be open? That's not happening.
Herman to Texas is likely going to happen

i don't want to fire Jones, but your coaching carousel was all over the place

No need to fire BJ. Vol fans just need to lower their expectations. And looking at the 2017 recruiting class, they had better do that sooner rather than later.

Go to the SEC rant and see what they think of Butch Jones over there. And then you'll understand how "unreasonable" it is for Tennessee fans to want someone better.

1, People pull thru drive thru restaurant and get what they order instantly.
2. People join a gym and one month later they look in the mirror and say I'm quitting I'm still fat
3. The world is made up of basically 2 kind of people and that's OK we need them both. Gyms get rich...coaches are held accountable to an extent and safe places for all that don't get more than a participation trophy.
4. It makes people that matter work harder and those that don't get a sense of relevance.

Reading their boards I find them more realistic than the fans on VN

Drive thrus have been around since the 50's and strip mall gyms have been around since the 70's.

I don't think many safe space people watch football to begin with.

Also, I think the participation trophy thing is kind of a null point as a Butch supporter, because he is known for the participation trophy statements and actions.

Maybe we wouldn't crave so much instant gratification from our coaches if we didn't see it actually happen at other schools who hire the right guy.
