I somewhat agree, but he was an elite in-the-box run stopper. He just didn't have that sideline-to-sideline speed of guys like Jarod Mayo or JRM

Lot of good names here. I’ll add Harrison Bailey. Supposed 5 star that a lot of people wanted to start, including myself. Had a journeyman nothing burger career.

How does Peyton NEVER beating Florida make me a Florida fan? LOL. My hate for a Florida combined with that fact is exactly why I say that.

You're entitled to your opinion, but if you're being fair, Peyton Manning can only be held even remotely responsible for 2 of those 4 losses. Peyton's detractors like to say that he was 0-4 vs Florida. However, as a freshman in 1994, Peyton didn't enter the game until Florida already had a 24-0 lead. As a sophomore in 1995, Peyton played well in the Swamp. That loss was on Jay Graham's 2 fumbles, our secondary and our special teams units. I suppose you can blame him for the losses in 1996 and 1997, although Peyton ended up with 491 yards passing in '96 .... but do those two losses by themselves make him "overrated" ???? It's not like Florida was some pushover back then. They won the National Championship in 1996.

If you are still dead set on disparaging Peyton Manning's college career anyway, the 1996 Memphis game is a much better place to start than any of the Florida games. Peyton threw an interception in the end zone, and he threw another interception that was returned to the goal line, setting up an easy Memphis touchdown. He also checked down to running plays all afternoon long, even though we only had 85 yards rushing on 49 attempts for the game.

I agree. I think he was probably the best of a team full of (okay) players if that makes sense. Dude had some huge pigeon toes.

JG was overrated by the coaches, if that counts.

I can't believe it took 13 pages to get to Jarrett Guarantano. He lurked around the program for years, playing well enough by the tiniest margin, preventing him from being replaced. His ceiling was serviceable at best, but his floor was awful.
