Some people overrate no hitters and act as if he is up near the best pitcher of all time.

He isn't.

5714 strike outs and 7 no hitters both MLB records. Also has the most 1 hit games and 2 hit games all time. His # is retired by 3 teams and he was 1st ballot HOF. Pretty damned good and I don't see how that guy is overrated.

Your rebuttal was to point out no hitters?

He's not in the 'best pitcher of all time' conversation, and some act like he is.

There's a reason he threw seven no hitters with no perfect games in there.

He couldn't get the ball across the plate.

He has a CAREER 4.67 BB/9. His WHIP was 1.25. A very good pitcher usually has that at 1.15. His best bWAR was 7.5 and for his career 77.4.

I won't be an ingrate. He's a great pitcher, and I will say Hall of Famer.

But here's his biggest indictament. In 27 years, he NEVER won a Cy Young. At no point did the voters say "Alright, there is no doubt Nolan Ryan is the best pitcher in baseball."

That says something.

You tell me why he is overrated. And if no hitters are nothing then why are they so few and far between? And it's not like the guy had 1 or 2 or even 3! The guy had 7!!! The next closest all time is 3! And he has the most 1 hit and 2 hit games of all time.

Easily mark McGwire. No brainer.

He wasn't a very good defender by any stretch, but the dude put up a wRC+ of 157 for his career, better than guys such as Willie Mays, Frank Robinson, Mel Ott, and Hank Aaron.

Tony Gwynn is a 15x all star and a lifetime .338 hitter. Was a helluva fielder in his early days if I remember correctly. Don't see how he is overrated
