Would you consider Saturdays noon game the most important game of the year? IMO it for sure is. We are all (except the negavols, which I don't consider real people) riding high! So I could be different than others and of course I would love to beat them, but if we lose to Bama and GA its going to be considered a game we are "suppose" to lose. If we lose to LSU it ruins the momentum and brings us back to reality. This is why I consider this game so important. Most important of the year!! I think I saw where someone else already said it. This is going to be the game that decides if we are truly back or not.

In case yall are wondering we win 38-24. lol You're Welcome!!

We have already won the most important game of the season, just shut your eyes and imagine Florida completed the hail mary at the end, the balloon would have burst and we would all have to spend another 12 months in purgatory. Yes, as we win each week the next game will seem bigger and bigger but from now we are playing with house money.

I can agree with one thing. I'd 100% rather beat Florida and lose to LSU than lose to Florida and beat LSU. I just feel like if we lose this game we are back to being in in the middle of the SEC instead in the top group. I'm not being negative by any means. I think we win and I think that we have taking strides to be in the top of the SEC. I was just asking a hypothetical question I guess. Maybe i'm just nervous lol. I do agree though Florida was another level of important.

Next game is always the most important. With our last 20 years performance, we can’t look over anyone.

I think this is another step building this teams confidence back. A good outing this Saturday will carry into Bama and make for a very competitive game.

Praying for no serious injuries

Predicting Vols 38-31. To close but a win

I feel like LSU, UGA, and Bama are all games we can lose and still feel like the Heupel rebuild is on track. I think the top ten hype is a tad premature and I don’t think our defense is quite ready to challenge UGA for the East yet. I’m not complaining at all, we are way further ahead of schedule than I figured we’d be at this point so just trying to enjoy it!

Florida has been the most important up to now. As long as the Vols keep winning, the next game is the most important, so yeah, LSU is right now.

34-30 Vols. I don't think this is going to be that easy.

To just re-iterate " The Next Game" is and should always be the most important game. Looking ahead is a recipe for disaster for anyone no matter the team. A large part of coaching is getting the players to buy into that philosophy.

I agree with this. If Tennessee goes 9-3 with losses to Alabama, Georgia, and LSU, I’m still happy with the season and direction of the program. If we had gone 9-3 with losses to Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, I’m still hopeful for the future, but unsatisfied with the season. We’d still have that Florida monkey on our backs.

I think LSU and Kentucky are probably the next most important games after Florida, simply because they’re swing games that, if we win, get us to our perceived ceiling of 10-2. And let’s be honest, 10-2 in Heupel’s 2nd season would be a pretty good indicator that Tennessee is about to be special again.

Do you think ESPN and ABC will treat Tennessee like they've returned if they beat Alabama? I have a feeling they will be making excuses for why Alabama lost and not point out that Tennessee took the win.

Yes, I do. I'm not one of those, "the world is out to get Tennessee" people. I think there are some anti-Tennessee folks out there, just as there are for a lot of programs. But overall, I think the sentiment among people who have careers covering college sports is that the game is better when Tennessee, Nebraska, Miami, etc. are good. Just as that was the same sentiment when Alabama, Michigan, and others were down.

If Tennessee beats Alabama, I think most outside of Alabama fans will rejoice.

Well my season was made by beating Florida! That said, any game after is the most important game. Don't need to get caught looking ahead and let LSU slip by. The coaches and players need to focus on LSU then work on Bama prep. If you are looking at then SEC East then the Georgia game becomes very important. All of the games are important to be relevant on the national stage. I will not be happy if UT looses to BAMA or UGA but it will not ruin the season for me personally.

I agree with the few above. The upcoming game is always the most important. One game at a time as the old mantra goes. If Tennessee beats LSU and Bama beats A&M, an undefeated vs undefeated for the first time in a long time in the Tennessee-Bama series. Neyland will be louder than anything else.

I think you might be right about the noise. The crowd dynamic is interesting. Tennessee fans can be jacked up for a big game like Florida, but the noise can quickly die down if we get behind because there's an "oh no here we go again" mentality. The pressure to win that game is so great. And the monkey on our backs feels defeating. Other games (like Alabama in recent years) aren't as loud because we didn't really have a chance.

This year's Bama game sets up interestingly: Tennessee has a chance to win, but there's really nothing to lose, either. Just go out and fight and see what happens...fans and team. As long as Tennessee is within 10-14 points, I don't think the crowd will quiet down. It may just be a game in which the crowd lays it all out there, win or lose. That was the case for a lot of early Majors years games...1982 and 1984 Alabama and 1985 Auburn come to mind.

I agree with what some have said we already won our most important toss up games. I’m more worried about our overall record now. As you said by the numbers we should finish 10-2 but I won’t be mad if something happens and we lose a close game to LSU or Kentucky. Anything below 8-4 means we take a step back at some point. I still want to win every game, every half, every quarter, every minute, every play, even every coin toss though!
