SEC football: Most important game for each team in 2022

This is such a huge game for both programs. Tennessee feels like it’s ready to make a jump in Year 2 under Josh Heupel. Meanwhile, new Florida coach Billy Napier is itching to show that the Gators are ready to be very competitive in Year 1. On paper, Tennessee seems ahead of schedule, Florida’s sneaky-good defense can really open eyes if it can slow down electric Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker.

The Gators are projected to win seven games, per Vegas. Tennessee’s win total sits at 7.5. Something has to give. This early-season showdown will tell us a lot about who is best positioned to give Georgia a run for its money in the SEC East. The Volunteers won seven games in Heupel's first campaign despite widespread depth issues and struggles related to undisciplined play at times. Tennessee expects both of those areas to be vastly improved in 2022.

Yup no doubt this game is the key to our season. This is a must win if we are gonna take that next step. This is the first time in forever I feel good about this game. Please Josh, End The Curse

Bama and Georgia are likely losses any way.

Beating Florida would put us in the right direction to win 8+ games this season.

Pitt, FL, LSU and KY. Win 3+ of those and it will turn out to be great season.

Roman Harper picked us to beat UGA on the road, so I suppose we shouldn't disappoint him. lol

I feel Tennessee wins this game by 10-14. Can't see Uf scoring enough nor stopping Tennessee enough. Richardson throws 2 pics, Hendon none.

I agree that, teaching PITT a lesson, should be first priority. Florida will be a huge game for UT and I cant describe how badly I want UT to crush the Gators. If UT beats Florida, that makes the UGA game that much bigger.

The part of the article I found really interesting was them having UT as LSU's biggest game. I would have thought Auburn or Alabama for that matter would be more important for conference reasons. I am glad that UT is starting to be considered an "important game" again for other teams!

GBO!!!

Pitt and Kentucky and Florida are the biggest games of the year
Well that's just stupid.

I would've agreed with you if you hadn't had a brain aneurysm and inserted Kentucky into that short list.

Kentucky's not a challenge to us. You've fallen victim to the hype.

Even in the worst down period of our program's history, beginning in 2008, we are 11-3 against the Wildcats. That's a 79% win rate. When we were at our worst.

We've had win streaks lasting as long as 26 years (let that sink in, 26 years) against Kentucky. Multiple streaks lasting 10 years or more.

You know how often your little brother beat you up when you were a kid? Never, right? That's Kentucky, with us.

It just doesn't happen.

Don't buy the hype. Kentucky has pulled itself out of the basement in a sustainable way, good for them, but that doesn't mean they can really compete with teams who vie for championships. Which is where we're heading.

If you want to correct your little error, change Kentucky to LSU. Then you'd be on the mark.

Go Vols!

Seems to be the case every season. Beat Florida and get over the hump. Do it consistently and we’ll have something special.

Not to sound like coach-speak, but the most important one is always the next one. But that said, sorry Ball State, if we want an 8+ win season gotta get the W at Pittsburgh! For Florida that Utah game is big too. Very good chance these Gators could come to Neyland 1-2, with L's to the Utes and Wildcats. Would really hate that for them!
