I'm not trying to bash our coach, but is he a coach that can "achieve more with less"?. He's always been surrounded by great talent and great minded coaches.
But are his achievements on the field actually his own? Our offense has been terrible, and at times are defense looked bad too.
The reality is that we are TN. We can still have top 5 recruiting classes, top 5 star talent, etc.. but will that be good enough?

We just witnessed what you get with un-talented players, it's all about the Jimmy's and Joe's

Answere this question. Who would you of picked to be our coach and take this mess that Butch Jones left and win with? Pruitt will be just fine. you will see when he gets his players in here. Tennessee will recruit like in the old days.

While I am among those who crticized the loss to SC as a golden opportunity that we missed, if we are realistic about this whole thing, Coach Pruitt probably got more out of this team than he should have. What was that different from last year to this year? A few pieces added, but overall pretty much the same team. There was only a net gain of 1 victory over last year. However, there were 2 wins that we should not have gotten (given the rankings of the opponents - Auburn, UK). While we let the SC game slip away and we played terrible against UF, none of our losses were really suprises.

Only time will tell, of course. But there were some positive signs -- Battered Fan Syndrome prevents me from being too optimistic, however. Given that, I am still hopeful for the future.

The answer you'll receive here is totally dependent on the time of year. Right now it's 100% player quality; after TN signs the ninth best class in the conference we'll be back to coaching talent, then it will flip again in about nine months.

That's about as real as you can call it.

Maybe not, but recruiting is currently headed in the right direction with us adding potentially two really good OL this year and a top QB next. If he keeps that heading in the right direction it might not matter.

tennessee football is broken. the foundation of the program was 2 coaches, both company men, spanning 32 years. we will never have that level of continuity maybe ever. the glory days were oh so glorious, maybe even better than we remembered.

What does ā€œwe are TNā€ mean? Honest question. Given the last 10-12 years I’d say not much.
