More to UT Violations story...

Nice guy. Takes a while to transition in to the game. Has a good unit to work with -- Eric Berry is the best in college football.

Just don't think they will be top five or top 10, and I don't think there was a lot that needed to be fixed. Florida SID said UT was the best defense Gators faced last year.

Hard to argue when you look at Tebow's numbers in that game.

My advise, stop posting. The more you write, the more you prove you have no football knowledge.
(great source by the way)

OK, we'll see how long it takes this year before Monte's defense gives up a play longer than 37 yards -- that was the longest play UT defense gave up all of last season.....

Just saying, people are underestimating how tough a transition it is for new coaches -- especially if they are foreign to the college game.

Coach O gives that defense a chance...he knows SEC football far better than Monte.

Monte is a big name that has served UT well in recruiting. But until I see him do it on the field with his calls, I wonder if he can do as well as the last DC.

Meanwhile, I'll be interested to see what the last DC -- Chavis -- does at LSU.

Not sure why folks are having so much trouble understanding the challenge Monte has on him.

Actually, I think it's rather easy to argue. Florida's offense could have strolled onto the field wearing blindfolds and it wouldn't have made a difference....the Gators clearly took the foot off the pedal.

Not only took their foot off the pedal, but got out of the car and started walking. CUM was being way too nice to CPF last year, as if feeling sorry for him and helping out a charity case. Once again, a faulty reason given for knocking Monte and placing Chief on a higher plane.

.

Not all that impressive when considering that opposing offenses generally started at around the UT 36, after the Vols went 3 and out and punted from the back of their own endzone.

Which SECE team other than Florida runs something other than a pro-style offense?

No matter who UT's D-coordinator was going to be this season it was known they were likely to take a step back.

They lost a lot of players.

The biggest challenge Monte and O are having is filling the holes from the lack of depth The Chief and Fulmer left them.

He will do as well. The man became famous because of the Tampa-2, which was created to stop pro-style, west-coast offensses. But that doesn't mean that is all he knows. And that doesn't mean those are the only kind of offenses that he will be able to scheme for. The man knows the subject of defense better than I will know any subject. This much I am sure of.

Please, please, please don't tell me you actually believe that?

Um, the Mustang package of course.

This article is terrible.

Monte does have his work cut out for him. There are weaknesses on the D-line, inexperience at linebacker, and we are thin at DB. That being said, the guy can just flat out coach. He's had a top 10 NFL defense for 6 of the last 7 years. He knows how to make adjustments. He knows how to coach up his talent. His age doesn't seem to be getting in the way.

griff & co. over at the snooze are longing for the good ole days when they were in the catbird seat over on the Hill.....

What exactly will that prove?

I do agree to a certian extent that there are issues on D that may prevent it from being statistically as good as last year, but to think the sky is falling or that Monte is in over his head is a bit of a stretch.

Answer this question Griff. Would the defense have taken a step back this year with Chavis at the helm?

Also why do you keep saying he is foreign to college football when he was the DC for 2 top ten college teams that had one of the best d's in the nation?

Can you explain to us how it is so much tougher to coach against SEC offenses than NFL offenses?

Is Chavis going to a more talented defensive unit than Monte, less talented or equal?

I don't care how long any particular play is, as long as we can keep opponents out of the end zone we will stand a much better chance of winning.

Well given that the DB's for the past few years have set up roughly 37 yards off the ball, it would be almost laughable to give up anything in excess.

Notice how Griff won't answer questions about whether or not the UT defense would have taken a step back with Chavis at the helm? or if Chavis has more talent at LSU than MK has at UT?

He can't answer because I'm sure he intends to use that as proof Chavis is the better DC.

"Meanwhile, I'll be intersted to see what the last DC--Chavis--does at LSU." That is the closest thing to stating the truth about your agenda you have done to date. It's a testament to your poor judgement that you have failed to realize when you befriended Chavis you forfieted your journalistic integrity as related to UT football. How can a supposed sports writer really believe that Monte Kiffin, undeniably one of the, if not the best defensive minds in all of FOOTBALL, will have trouble adjusting to simpler, less efficient offensive schemes? Surely you aren't that incompetent in your chosen profession. I have a suggestion, why don't you move to baton rouge and see first hand how Chavis fares? For the love of God man, we get it. Your vjay is still chafed and burning because your friend was fired. It's time to move on. Just move on before you completely lose all credibility because the economy sucks and new careers are difficult to come by right now.

My man just came out with here didn't he?

My apologies to the board for being a member here for so long and when I finally post it's in response to this guy's thread. I mean come on, did he not see the 2nd half of the UCLA game last year? Or the 01 SEC championship game? Nothing against his idol Chavis, but good Lord, enough is enough. Was he forced into sports writing because his red wig, squeeky nose and funny shoes got stolen or what?

Not an issue. Griff is so biased he doesnt even see how bad he looks. Then his arrogance is unreal. He won't answer most questions posed him. I know when I ask or others ask him a question on his article that it usually won't be answered. He knows he cannot answer the ones I posed him and I didn't expect him to. I just wanted to continue to expose him. But Griff I would like you to answer and prove me wrong. Come on, show me I'm wrong and answer my questions. I don't mind being wrong if it gets you to answer.

it will be interesting/sad watching the fulmeristas bash kiffin and co. after each loss... I'm sure there will be "interviews" with Fulmer during the season for the purpose of "catching up with the coach" :eek:lol:
