More Laughable Stuff about NCAA: Look what GA QB did!!

Georgia player with a Lamborghini? What could possibly go wrong….
Am I having a senior moment? Didn't Saban brag about his backup QB making a million per year and hadn't thrown a pass yet? That was Bryce Young he was referring to, which would have made the statement 5 yrs ago, Wasn't that before the NIL was in effect? Where was the NCAA back then, this is just CRAZY. A broadcaster stated there was 7 college QB's making more than Brock Purdy, pretty sure Arch Manning is one of those. I just don't get it, time for some new hobbies I guess.

He's been there 5 years. Probably not a traditional recruiting incentive, more like a don't go pro incentive.

Exactly but what’s the difference?
“Traditional” incentive would be like Nico getting $$ to come to UT = pay for play
In this case, UGA is paying Beck to not turn pro. He’s earned the money on the field already.

Except UT never paid Nico and Spyre allowed him to go to any school of his choosing. UGA paid Beck to stay at UGA.

Never said UT paid Nico. He was paid before playing though. Beck has created value for his Name, Image, & Likeness through his play on the field.

If the NCAA wishes to remain relevant, they better hire a team of financial advisors for student-athletes, and open a used car lot for those moving on.

The NCAA's role in this is so political, I fully expect them to soon publish a ruling that any cars given or loaned to student-athletes must be electric.

And if they do...
Texas can kiss their "climate-destroying" Bevo goodbye.

Nico created value for his NIL by playing on the field. In high school. You may not like it, but it's where we are right now.

He did.

NCAA’s point is they don’t mind NIL once a kid is signed with a college. They don’t want nil to entice them to sign with a college. So by their standards you wouldn’t be able to negotiate a nil until you were signed. That’s going to fly about as well as you can imagine it will.

As far as Tenn specifically, there were no rules governing nil when Nico was signed. However there were booster rules already on record. NCAA is trying to define Spyre as a booster organization and use that to go after Tennessee.

Am I the only person who isn't bothered by vehicles? I remember being on campus way before NIL when some players had multiple high-end vehicles. Perhaps, I'm just old, but vehicles have always been part of the recruiting gig to various degrees.

Good to know the old college spirit is still alive---twerp. There will be a lot of kids in the 10 years saying, "well,
I never made it in the NFL but I still made a lot of money from those suckers at Name Your College."

It was at media days 2021. About 3 weeks after NIL was “legalized” By NCAA

He’s not good enough to be a pro. Just another game manager surrounded by eite talent that makes him look better than he actually is. Don’t get me wrong, he has talent. Just not 4-mil a year talent

NCAA saying only players who are already on campus have NIL value is beyond stupid. So, Lebron James didn’t have NIL value when his Hs games were broadcast on TV? Or Arch Manning had no NIL value when his signed with Texas? High school 5star kids definitely have NIL value. If a 5 star visits your school on a OV, that immediately increases the value of your program & raises interest in the schools recruiting class

For 1 season he actually played ? Not seeing a big difference there. You can't limit what someone earns because of his age. That's definitely anti-trust

Hes a decent college QB. Based on what he showed last year, he would have probably gone in round 4-ish or probably later. Way I see it, really not much room to go but up. Maybe he has a Joe Burrow type season this year, who knows? $4 million is a heckuva lot more than he would have made this year going pro though.

I sometimes wonder if the washout rate for highly drafted tOSU, USC, etc QBs is so high in the NFL because they are surrounded by more talent in college than they will ever see in the pros. Georgia could now find themselves in that situation sadly.
