Maryville's 76 straight wins with 4 state titles (longest streak in the nation when it ended)

or

Alcoa's 5 straight state title's...which is still intact

Which of these 2 is more impressive? Alcoa dominates 2A and next year they will be 3A. Maryville typically rolls through 4A, next year 6A.

I think Quarrels does the better job coaching. I think at Alcoa they just simply have better athletes that other 2A schools. Alcoa would have a nice win streak if they didn't play Maryville every year. This is one of the biggest rivalries in the state that has been played for many, many years.

Both are fun to watch.

Just a fun thread to see what people think.

I would still have to say Maryville, considering it's 4A and it was consecutive wins. Alcoa's is great also. Winning one state championship is hard enough, but to win 5 in a row is something else.

Maryville's going to 6A next year? That doesn't exist this year does it?

Maryville's region was considered one of the toughest in the state in 4A while Alcoa once won a first round playoff game by 84 points.

If Alcoa didnt play Maryville every year they would have a win streak of 40 straight games right now. Their last loss to a team besides Maryville came in 2006 to Fulton the score was 24-21.

Maryville's streaks are over for now. Time to play with the best of the best in the playoffs.

Maryville shouldn't be nearly as dominate in 6A
I think Alcoa will still be able to roll in 3A.
