More "good" press/ The CBS hates us thread

I think this writer has it totally wrong. I don't think this has anything to do with Dooley. I like Dooley, but I know in my case personally, I am not buying season tickets because I am tired of the embarrassment that is our mens athletic department and I will not financially support this nonsense! I will of course still watch and cheer on the big orange as hard as ever. Hell, I may even go to some games, but I wont be buying tickets from the university. I don't like Jimmy Cheek and they are going to have to prove to me that they are headed in the right direction before they see a dime of my money ever again. If they make a good hire in the AD position it would be a great start, but I seriously doubt they will get that done. I am just sick of being embarrassed by everything they do.

I'm with you somewhat Reeba. Cheek's lowest bidder approach warrants the fanbase's eff you response. That's not a shot at DD either. I think he's in a far tougher spot than the vast majority of new hires and has done reasonably well, regardless of the lack of support from clowns like Cheek.

Our stadium is twice the size of Mississippi State's ... and our problems have little to do with Dooley, IMO

Yeah. its easier to sell 30,000 tickets to MSU than 70,000 to UTK. 43% difference.
If UT wins 8 games this season, you wont be able to find scalped tickets next year.

That's a bit of a stretch, don't you think? I'm willing to bet they don't sell out next year with 8 wins. They'll be closer, but as long as tickets are $70 each the supply will be greater than demand.

I think the increased prices have more to do with it then anything.. and then we also have more tickets to sell then just about anyone..

pretty sure the 61k that are sold already are more then anyone else's total

I'm not buying season tix this year for three reasons.

1. Total cost of donation, tickets, parking, etc. exceeds $2K once all is said and done. It can be expensive.

2. I'm burnt out on the entire gameday experience.

3. I'd much rather sit and watch the game with my kid at home than put up with the 95% in the stadium.

I have been blaming Hamilton, Pearl, Kiffin and Fulmer all along, but I am beginning to understand that the rot is at the top. There is plenty of blame to go around, but Jimmy Gator Cheek has been the fox in the chicken coop. This creep still wear Florida colors. He puts an academic Nazi on the AD search committee.

Cheek does not have UT athletics at heart. If he is not intentionally trying to harm the program, he is at best incompetent. If you think that all of the bad decisions were by Hamilton without input from Cheek, well I have a bridge to sell you. He has to be the one who hired the AD search firm that was not aware of the GT AD's situation. It is time we get someone in charge who wants to win and not just provide activities and entertainment. Cheek is not the guy. Period.

With the quality of HD tv these days I find it to be better in the comfort of my own living room and cheap snacks. I still love the stadium experience but being 3 1/2 hours away it is an all day thing and usually cost near $500 for gas tickets eats and drink and that not even counting a room.

I take my kids to one game/yr, but agree. Wait until your/s start playing sports on saturdays and it becomes more difficult to go if you don't live in E TN. I only see @ 2 live games on TV during the season now. Times achange.

Jerry Hinnen is an Alabama homer. He's not likely to say anything positive about UT or our coach.

To me, IMO you can tell the REAL Vol fans when times are hard. Im sticking with the Vols if they never win another game. I love the Vols and will support them till I hit the grave. I am proud to be a VOL fan and to be honest, I am glad the real fans are showing up and the fair weather fans are showing their true colors. I will be at EVERY home game for as long as my health holds up. GO VOLS. I am in it with you all the way. I will give my ALL to Tennessee.

Does the UTAD put those tickets on there? If not, most likely they're from a private seller that had to pay the donation.
