More bad news for VN...

I leave for 10 hours and all of the sudden UT has become the Arkansas program? If Trooper leaves, and you want to follow, by all means don't let the door hit you. It would be my sincere hope that the NCAA allows you to play right away.

If I was Austin Rogers, I would be disturbed to. There is not a self respecting coach in the country that could justify giving him playing time in front of the talent he suplanted this year. This crap makes me mad (if you couldn't tell).

After thinking about it, Austin Rogers probably won't play too much next year, because if Trooper leaves everyone will have a clean slate and start at the same spot. That means even the true frosh coming in will be at the same level in the new coaches eyes. We will see.

I wonder if this is really what lies beneath this story. With Creer behind AF, and several frosh WR's who must be better than Rogers (he drops a lot of balls), maybe some coaches have been holding back the best talent. The pass Gerald Jones dove to catch in the endzone would concern me if I was Austin Rogers who has trouble catching the ones that hit him in the numbers, that's for sure. Kenny O'neal must be getting better at catching the ball--and we know he has speed. Lucas Taylor may be the only starting reciever that we should see so much of next season--whether they transfer with a position coach or not.

I could go on and on with this thinking... but I wonder:

Are these guys so loyal to Trooper because he gives them too much credit for their time in the program?

If these guys do leave, would that give us more schollies to use for recruiting this year? How soon do we need to get them to decide?

you guys are all missing the greatest point in trooper leaving!!!! no more blue chip recruits, Hardesty,Creer,Berry,Paige,Jones,Moore all came to UT and were recruited Trooper,

TT was ranked as a top ten recruiter and the players adore him, we well not be the same with out him

we need to raise his salary and keep him here

Berry came to UT because he was raised a UT fan....His father is alum.....Creer and Moore were recruited by Troop though...

Troop may be very close to the players and may well be credited for his role in helping to recruit them to play at UT.

However, it's absolutey impossible to ignore the rich tradition of blue chip athletes at UT long before Troop came along. And for you to conclude that no more will play on the Hill when he leaves, you must know that you are grossly over-stating any potential impact.

Heck, if the entire coaching staff walked off at halftime of our bowl game and a parade of players followed them, we'd still get blue chip athletes who want to play football at UT.

If such a dramatic event occurred, we might have a down year or two, but UT football would return. There are too many of us (whether Fulmerites or Negavols) who simply can't live without it.

everything in life is not about money ALL the time. taylor wants to move ahead in his coaching career. he doesn't want to be a rec. coord. & WR coach his whole life. he was told by fulmer the last time the OC job was open and taylor wanted it and they brought CDC back that "it wasn't his time yet". are you supposed to tell him the same thing again? what person in his right mind would believe it? i wish him well at baylor.

This might be the first of your posts that I have seen that I completely agree with. Players at other schools are used to transitions, I think we at Tennessee tend to get a little set in our ways.

Change is life.

Berry was coming anyway. Martin was recruited by Cut. Adkins recruited O'Neal. Luke recruited Donald. Caldwell recruited Gerald Jones. Slade recruited Vinson. We will always recruit Blue Chips. Even with many of those guys leaving.
