*Edit*

The writer of the article said the comments on Tennessee. I read it as if Monte had said them. I believe that it was the intention of the writer T.J. Simers and that's the way I took it. No excuses here. I was wrong.

"As for jumping ship; USC called him,'' daddy Kiffin says, the folks in Tennessee failing to understand if UCLA can beat the Volunteers so easily the past two years, there's no way they can be considered in the same class as USC.

Is USC's Lane Kiffin really Mr. Misconduct, or just misunderstood? - Los Angeles Times

People have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt , but he is no better than his son. Did he forget that he was coaching the defense that lost to UCLA last year? Oh and good luck stopping the spread you old bastard :finger3:

I'm also loving the spin from ESPN and others acting like Manning went on the Dan Patrick show just to talk about Kiffin. Did anyone hear the interview? They spent all of 3 minutes talking about that douchebag.

If our line could have blocked theirs at the 3 yard line, we'd have won.
But don't let little things like that sway you. Everyone knows their offense was prolific against us. All those 186 yards of offense sure showed Monte

The dude is absolutely senile. He will probably have a stroke soon. How good do you think a defensive coordinator that has had a stroke is?

Monte did not impress me at all last year.....I'm glad we have Wilcox

Ok gotta ask. Why are you glad to have Wilcox? He hasn't coached a game at UT yet but you hold last year against monte?

To me you have to take ut out of the equation. Compare Boise State vs. Tampa Bay. Or wait til this year is complete then see which one was better.
Just for clarification i'm not against Wilcox. I hope he'll do well here.

We should have kept Chavis. He is the was the one bright spot as far as coaching for us.

The only thing Monte did last year was keep Eric Berry from winning the Heisman.. the college offense isn't stopped by the Tampa 2! Go Wilcox get the Tennessee D back to the top in the nation.

Monte is one of the best DC's at any level of football... and like many parents he is blind to many of his son's flaws.

As for UCLA beating UT... seems like the Kiffin's had some hand in that second loss.

This is a good reason why the LA Times should get all their stuff off the wire. T.J. Simmers must speak English as a second language because he can barely write. Although I did not "have to get a relative to read this to me", I wish I had not read it myself.

As far as Full and 1/2 Monte go, who cares around here. Both are pretty dumb and the former is a blithering .....as we can clearly see.

We need to move on! GBO

I thought the samething last year. I know one formation every team ran against Monte for at least 4 or 5yds. Teams would line up in shotgun 3-wide and the slot reciever was never covered. That slot reciever would always run a route towards the sideline and would get on the outside before the LB could get to him. He never adjusted to that. Auburn and Memphis hit some big plays off that play.

That showed me that he had some holes that could be attacked by teams in the spread formation. Monte is just senile.

It may be a reach, but Wilcox's defense is designed to work against modern college offenses, Monte's was effective, but not designed for modern college offenses

Every defense has holes. See: whole field on 3rd and Chavis
