Excuse making for his son...

He said Lane did not contact USC for the job and I don't believe that for a second.

He is doing major damage control.

He's avoiding all sticky questions though. Meaningless gesture.

He dont have to many, he is going with him. Plus it is his son, if he really thought this was wrong don't you think he would stop his son from doing it. Plus im not talking about leaving, im saying he could have stopped him from doing it the way he did. Monte, which surprises me, is just like the rest of them.

is there a link or is it over now?

Over now. No one on the Sports Animal bought a word he just said.

Basically he talked about loving Tennessee, but never promising to stay long. He talked about his time at Tampa when Atlanta got stung by Petrino.

He dodged all questions about his son's deal with USC and Orgeron calling recruits. He made an excuse for why they didn't tell the team before they found out from ESPN while watching a freakin' basketball game.

Clay Travis said he mentioned recruit by name. How many infractions have they committed during this departure?

Who cares, any credibility he's built up over the years is getting tarnished by his son. Sucks to be Lane Kiffin's dad. Maybe Monte didn't spend enough time correcting little Lane.

All three of them can burn in hell for all i care. I can't think of any situation where a coaching staff did more to destroy a program in such a short amount of time. I hope USC lands on probation for years because that's basically the situation they left us with.

I didn't hear the interview this morning, but last night a contributor on Fox Sports Radio (who a believe is on the west coast) said that Kiffin had been lobbying to get the USC job for a week.
