Someone told me that monte has informed his players and Jon Gruden that he will not return next season. Can anyone confirm this?

He told his players and coaches that when Lane got hired. That's what i would assume after hearing all the interviews in the last few weeks.

Sounds reasonable.

They talked about his players singing Rocky Top to him before their Monday night game and coaches splicing in UF film for him to review.

Monte is coming!

Can you hear the sleigh bell?

It will be nice to hear it "publically"! This has been the worst kept secret since Barry Bonds....

Everybody knew it, I just thought it would be at the end of the season before Monte came out and said it. I guess he needed to make sure his players would be certain and or Lane needs him to go ahead and make it known for CLK's recruiting benefit.

Monte Kiffin
+ Tennessee 2008 #4 ranked defense
= Excited about 2009

What were we ranked this year #5 #7?

This is the ONLY reason Lane was hired..because his Dad would come

I think if it wasnt for his Dad UT wouldnt have gave Lane the time of day. He has Never coached college and won ONLY 5 games as a NFL HBC!

Wasn't based on his resume

Fresno State (Positions) 2 years
Colorado State (Positions) 1 year
Jacksonville Jaguars (Asst) 1 year
USC (Positions/OC) 5
Oakland Raiders won 5 damn games

Trooper Tayloe has much more exp then Lane

He was hired based on the talent he recruited and coached at USC, the offense that put up over 7,000 yards on 1,000 plays, and the fact he is a non-stop worker. Basing his NFL HC career on a college hire is asinine, and further more he didn't have CRAP to work with in Oakland. The last good team they had was coached by Bill Callahan and those were Gruden's players.

I agree. Oakland is the worst team in the NFL. It is going to take a hell of a head coach to turn that ship around. It also wouldn't hurt if Big Al would sell the team to an owner with a freaking clue.

Oh I see that makes him a good HBC...?

Norm Chow has publicly criticized by the way!

The UCla win he had in 06 was great..LOL

Host: Coach, here back in Los Angeles, USC, a couple of your proteges in Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian, taking over as offensive coordinators for the Trojans, they've uh, taken a lot of heat, and Joe mentioned especially after the UCLA game. Any thoughts on those two guys and the job they've done since you left? Norm Chow Reply: Nah, you know I don't get a chance to follow much, you know we're so busy doing what we're doing, um, you know LenDale keeps me informed of all that but I really don't, don't know. You know I know DeWayne Walker maybe better than both of those guys and DeWayne's a heck of a football coach and that's why it wasn't too surprising when DeWayne did what he did with UCLA.
