USA Today had a great article on recruiting yesterday and it listed the top 50 recruits. UGA is all over it and OU as well, but the Vols arent on a one yet.

that'll change... last year at this time we weren't much better than we are right now and look how we ended up.

whether you like it or not, you'll have to admit that the other schools are off to a very quick start.

I agree but look at Texas and how they started out last year... They ended up losing commitments and dropped down from the top recruiting spot. They still had a good class but wasn't as good as everyone thought it would be....

Mainly because they figured they could quit recruiting and just focus on football. That's why I'm guessing they're in favor of an earlier signing period.

Last year it was UF (post from 5/4/06). Our recruiting is very rarely a major concern.

Looking at what Florida did last year and how they have started this year in recruiting, they might be running away from us. How did we fall so far so fast??

last year was a pleasant suprise, if you'll recall UF ended up with an awesome year in recruiting and will do so again. So Pj, how am I wrong for pointing out that UGA has commits from four guys in the top fifty already? Am I lying? Does Tennessee have one that I am unaware of? the reality is that a trend has developed over the last couple of years of top guys commiting early. just look at the list and it speaks for itself.

quality is the important thing... i agree

i don't like the whole rivals/scout team rankings -- they are a product of numbers and quality.... but they disregard teams that are short on scholarships. teams that take 17 excellent players due to scholly limitations can be ranked below teams that take 25 decent players.

eh, rankings don't matter much anyway. this is a year to fill up on the big uglies.

number of scholarships available should have nothing to do with rankings. It's not a recruiting efficiency rating, it's the overall talent in a class and that's it.
