I just don't follow the recruiting trail much (or read many of these player breakdown threads)...

So y'all get a whole thread started from me to ask one simple question.

Seems we are picking up quite a few visits we didn't have a sniff at in December, for you guys who are close with all this... does this feel like the work of these past weeks by our staff is now bearing fruit? And, is this just courtesy stuff from these kids, or are we looking at UT surprises on NSD?....

k, 2 questions..

I'll hang up and listen.

is this don from sweetwater? Lol jk. First off yes i do think the hard work by the new staff is showing now by these visits. CLK said noone would out work them. And i am believing him. Second, i think some visits are just courtesy visits and some are legit. But what happens when the courtesy visit gets blown away by the staff and by the whole deal? Then all of a sudden you are in it. I think we will have 3 to 4 surprises on nsd.

Some visits are a paid weekend vacation, and some are a result of coaches moving to new venues which for some is the golf course.

i think, if nothing else, the staff is laying the groundwork for an amazing recruiting year, next year. kids are definately noticing us. a really good example, is the Tana Patrick thread. kiff, and his crew, talked him out of going to Miami on the 30th to come visit here. getting him is still not probable, but something is brewing in Knoxville and these kids definately want to come and peep.

OWH,
Because those that follow recruiting are a results driven group (ie Commits) we have little to crow about right now. However, the fact that we are getting visits this late in the game is nothing short of miraculous. Recruiting is all about the relationship, thus O's mantra if getting in early with the prospect. We are coming very late to the party, but the girls are still giving us the eye. I am very very impressed with what this staff is doing at this point in the season. I also think that you are seeing a shift in the level of talent Tennessee is targeting. In the 90's we landed guys that could have gone to any school in the country, but after that we began to settle. Now it seems that we headed back to the top.

Sounds like a turn in momentum to me. Especially given the short time we've had a staff...

So fast. I'm impressed.

Kiff promised a staff... and delivered.

Promised tireless recruiting of the very best... seems to be delivering already.

Promised physical play... The players I think would tell you he's delivering.

That's a FedEx worthy delivery record right there.

Will he deliver on the field? I like the odds...

Everyone always talks about next year. Next year will be fun, no doubt. But this year isn't over yet. I agree with the wait til next year theme but this staff has been on the job for seven weeks and are closing in on some of the best players in the country. Just seven weeks. There's two more weeks left for this year. I'm a believer. Don't doubt Coach Kiffin.

He's going to demand it, not encourage it, big difference. No clapping, just pine.

I am sorry, but I can't hide my excitement!

I know we won't land many of these big time guys we have coming in but just to land one or two will just be such an accomplishment and a thrill ride that I can't wait!

I have always loved recruiting and followed it very closely and respected how well Fulmer could close out a big recruit at the last minute. (Meachem, Morley, ect.)

If Kiffin can close like Fulmer could (which I obviously think that he will be better w/Org helping) We will come up with a HUGE suprise. I don't know who but a Greg Reid type suprise!

I think that if we have any success on the field, even moderate,, we will blow up next year.

I don't see any promises to the media on that list. Some folk in the media seemed to have missed that part. All the energy is being spent on recruiting.

Kiff has fed them Chaney and Cregg in the past two days... Those Ktown radio dysfunctionalities need to shut their yaps about not getting time with the HC to fluff their egos with...

I agree, Kiffin's job is to win football games, not spend time talking to a jacka** like John Adams. IMO the less time he spends talking to our local media the better off he is.
