Now that Willie Mack Garza is reportedly headed to USC, I was wondering about the remnants of the former coaching staff. I read that Ed Orgeron was outraged that his post resignation request for recruiting material compliled while at Tennessee was denied. Is it possible that some of the assistant coaches were intentionally left behind for a period of time to gather recruiting material for the new USC staff?

It's certainly possible based if on only the actions of Coach O. But they also know there was a current investigation into the previous staffs activity. Along with a public statement of phone records being check and such.

Would they have to pay for that information? Only reason I ask is that they compiled that work on UT's dime. I would find it hard to believe we would be willing to simply give it up for free.

You guys are naive to think they are not stealing info from us...Garza stole it and was indeed left behind.
Since when investigations at the UT's Athletics Dept turn out anything positive for UT's sake? NEVER.

:) WE now have 5 assistant coaches. Does anyone no how many we can have- I think it is 9 which means we have 4 open postions but I am not sure. If someone can clarify this I would appreciate it.

I think that is exactly what's going on. If it wasn't WMG and Cregg would have left to go to usc when everyone else did. But they were told to stay behind and recruit and gather info for usc while at UT. What would be the punishments if this were the case?

Tracking phone messages will not tell the whole tale. A throwaway cell phone with paid up minutes can be had anywhere. I am talking about hard copy files or electronic files on a flash drive leaving the building.

And yes, I do think they are that arrogant and stupid. People at the top get a feeling of invincibility after they get away with things for a while. I can't accept this was anything else than deception after Carrol decided to go to Seattle. The USC bolters may have had advance knowledge of the move in time to plan it all out.

I've been wondering the same thing. I think the core of the staff that kiffin left over has been recruiting our guys to USC IMO. Im glad he's gone, along with Cregg and Reaves. None of them can be trusted at this point.

I think this is getting ridiculous.

But i mean, i suppose it could happen.

Now off to the cardinals message board where all they talk about is McGwire.

Thats funny because O left all of his UT stuff in his apt (clothes, luggage, notebooks, etc.) and my friend ended up with all of it including some defensive playbooks and scouting reports from the Georgia game... If only that material could help the PAC 10 schools....:D

I think we have to see after signing day if any or our recruits go to USC then we can get really po'd.

WMG was integral to the recruiting of Hunter. He liked Knoxville and was inclined to stay. We just didn't match USC's offer.**

**Not claiming as gospel truth. My educated guess.

Their not done with US yet... still more Milk in the teet. Ha ha they are a business machine, they won't stop until UT makes them stop !!! Face it, they are out smarting us at every turn. They know every inch of TN inside and out, a new Coach can't change that.

I recall that a stumbling block in hiring a new HC was Ham said the new HC had to keep certain assistants. Are any of the holdover assistants on the defensive side of the ball? If so, I wonder if this effects the hiring of potential DC's. Most great DC's would probably want to bring in their own guys.

It could be that holding onto these assistants has cost the Vols there first few choices at HC and now it may be costing them DC picks.

It is possible that Ham requiring the new coaches to keep old assistants is going to cost a lot more than there severance would.

Just a thought.
