My dad's a 20 year military vet. He's been out of the country. He has walked in the hood in New York City by himself at 1 AM in the morning. He's been to Detroit. He's rode a subway in Philly at night. He's been to the worse parts of Southern California. He's walked through the slums Puerto Rico. There's only one place he's been to that made him say "I will not leave my car" and that Oakland.

Sounds about right. I took the MARTA through Lakeview at 1 in the morning, been to New York, to Southcentral LA, and I'm scared of Oakland. I avoid that place when I go back to San Jose.
