MLB cancels ASG in Atlanta

the NYT article Luth posted is a riot

one example in reference to mobile voting (of which a total of 2 were used during the pandemic):

"Georgia has now outlawed this practice, unless the governor declares a state of emergency to allow it — something that Mr. Kemp, a Republican, is unlikely to do given that it could increase voter turnout in Atlanta."

So it's not completely ruled out but the Times has decided a Republican likely won't allow it. It was a slightly used tool during a once in a century emergency FFS and it's not being ruled out.

here's another with regard to mailing absentee applications to everyone whether requested or not:

"When the coronavirus pandemic hit last year, Georgia’s secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, mailed absentee ballot applications to every registered voter in the state ahead of its June primary election. This led to absentee voting by record numbers of Georgians.
When Mr. Raffensperger didn’t mail applications again for the general election, several local government agencies did so, particularly in Georgia’s large urban counties — a move that the state has now made illegal. With the loss of automatically mailed applications, some voters will invariably not request ballots, since the applications also served as a reminder to people that they were eligible to vote."

So this again was a pandemic specific accommodation and not continuing it is "voter suppression" because people will have to remember they are eligible to vote and have almost 3 months prior to the election to request an absentee ballot FOR ANY REASON THEY LIKE (many states limit to specific circumstances). C'mon man!

Another classic from the article

In reference to the law which actually officially authorizes the use of drop boxes whereas they weren't allowed before but an exception was made for the pandemic. Because fewer than were used during the emergency authorization and they aren't open 24/7 and outside the Times concludes this:

"The measure is likely to have the effect of pushing absentee voters to return ballots through the mail, which in 2020 did not prove as reliable as in the past because of cuts to the Postal Service."

that's how absentee ballots have always been returned but now that's voter suppression. pure propaganda

The restriction on passing out water to people in line is a direct result of Rafael Warnock’s campaign flouting the rule about not campaigning within 150’ of a polling place by handing out bottled water labeled “Warnock Water”.

If Sharpton likes it you know it's dumb.

Elaborate. What is the problem.
You're not going to get an answer. The best he could come up with was listing the 16 reasons the article listed and dropping an asterisk by what he felt was "most concerning". He failed to get at why he felt these were concerning because we would laugh his ass out of this thread.

What I find comical is the people that were screaming of proof that voter fraud occurred. Im pretty sure this is all the proof that is needed. They don't want elections secure.

Good move. Good for them and for Delta and others.

Sad that private businesses have to stand up for black folks because the government won't but oh well. Our black friends survived Jim crow laws the 1st time and they will survive this modern version.

Never forget yall came out and voted in droves in 2020 and it was Republicans that tried to silence you in 2021.

Everyone is playing by the same rules....... even though voters may die of dehydration
If only people could absentee vote then we wouldn't have the Great Voting Line Dehydration Genocide of 2023. God rest the souls of all those cognitively impaired minorities and White democrats and their impending deaths.

Literally nothing in the bill stops “black folks” from voting.

It’s an absolute joke to equate this to Jim Crow. The most racist thing is to assume that an ethnic group can be taken for granted to vote like a herd of cattle.
