Mizzou Summary?

Anyone get a look?

Their front seven is good but their secondary can be had.

They have some decent receivers, but their offensive line can't give their QB a chance to find an open man.

Their kicker has a huge leg.

Drink had them ready to play tonite, but they were outmatched. Their starters did outplay Bama's backups in the second half.

They feel pretty good about their run defense. QB play is still a huge mystery for them. Probably going to have to rely on our passing game more than I would like to score 30+ unless we decide to go to a second QB option.

Mizzou is well disciplined. They played with a lot of toughness and hit hard on defense. Their special teams is strong. Good QB and run game, despite a somewhat weak offensive line. Secondary also a little weak, but again gauging that against Alabama can be tough. From what I saw yesterday, they will be a tougher opponent than SCAR. Really need to get pressure on their QB and our defense has to play better than it did yesterday.

Alabama could have beat them by 50 if they had wanted to. Saban took his foot off the gas in the second half. They were up by 28 at halftime. Saban took the opportunity to get a lot of players some PT.

Missouri gained 112 yards in the first half when Alabama cared. I discount the 2nd half because Alabama played backups and lost interest. Is 112 yards against Alabama in a half good? Who knows for sure yet but I would say I think Missouri is one slot below USCe.

The most frightening thing I noticed is how Mizzouri attempted to get the ball on the edge against Alabama. Alabama stopped them with their pursuit and speed, but I am worried about them getting to the edge against our defense.

Early against S. Carolina they kept getting the edge, pinning our ends inside. If we let MIzzou do this with any success you will see them running around the end until we make an adjustment.

Robinson (the qb aforementioned with a 79% completion rate, 19/25) has some speed and wiggle to him. May be a serious threat if he gets out in space. Sure would like to see Baron, To'o To'o and others get him on the ground a few times early to take away any thoughts of escaping the pocket.

WE have some holes...DL is solid against the run,but can't produce a Pass Rush. Secondary isn't as bad as it appears going up against two Future NFL studs without a Pass rush and the appeared to do OK. Played a True Frosh at one corner as well.

On offense the Rountree ran well against Bama DL. The OL is not up to par as was expected at least Pass blocking wise. We expected that squad would struggle. WR did a poor job blocking the Edge on Jet's/FLy sweeps. Hope to clean that up as those plays could hit. Our QB has to throw the ball away when rushed more often Sure he wanted to make a play and against lesser talented opponents that might work but not against Bama or top tier P5 teams.

What I did like is Mizzou seemed more focused and disciplined on both sides of the ball than anytime Since Gary P. was roaming the sidelines.

Will be decided later in the 4th qtr again.

This Vol team will need to develop its QB depth. JG made some good plays, but missed wide open receivers with regularity. QB play is consistently inconsistent; always a question mark. Until corrected, no contest will ever be safe.

Would be a mistake to judge the Zou by the AL game. They are much closer to our team than some here want to believe. Vols should win if we play better than we did Sat.

Eh,,we should and probably will beat them, just expect us to go 3 and out our first 2 possessions while they score on at least 1 of their first couple of possessions. We will fight back to stay in the game or win it. It seems this is becoming the standard start of games for seasons now.

First possession they've been trying to get to the edge, we've covered it well. Good job Ansley!
