Mizzou appeal denied

It was their (NCAA) heavy handed action on a "smaller" school to distract people from their lack of action on bigger schools.

I cant remember who it was this time but I remember us joking about it when it came out.

When you think about how long it went on and how egregious the academic cheating afforded to North Carolina basketball players was for which they got a slap on the wrist then compare what has happened to Mizzou, it's like apples and oranges.

They got hit with scholarship reductions and recruiting restrictions that go into the 2020-21 academic year as well, not just the bowl ban. It seems like an incredibly stiff penalty for what they did.

The bowl ban is just for this year, but other aspects of the penalties drag into next year.

What prevents a rouge rival fan that's a tutor at Tennessee from doing this to "us"? If I was attending Alabama and I was an a-hole, this would certainly be on my mind.

Here is the NCAA compliance manual.

1-Don't do anything you should not do. We know no one is going to obey rule 1 and most are probably laughing at this point here is the steps you should follow for damage control.

2-Don't get caught and keep your mouth shut. Both are not that hard to do and yet it seems that teams do not comprehend this. Remember it is only cheating if you get caught.

3-If for some crazy reason you do decide to admit stuff then be certain to downplay it and make it seem less serious than what it was and also don't forget to make it a sport no one really cares about. For instance if for 30 years you have had ringers take tests for football players it would be best to explain it by saying "A few years ago one of our water polo players might have cheated on an advanced calculus homework assignment"

4-If you are caught it is very important to not cooperate with any type of investigation in any way. Remember they have these things called paper shredders and computers can sometimes "lose" important files. If there are witnesses it is very important to do any and every thing in your power to discredit them. Remember money talks and that bribes are your friends.

5-If sanctions are brought against your program always push for removing wins to be your only punishment. Nobody cares about this. Also if your coach will likely not make bowl season then you can suggest a bowl ban.

6-If you don't like your punishment and think it is really too strong you can always use legal action to your advantage. By the time it gets through the courts most people will have forgotten what happened in the first place

7-In Division 1 you will not get the death penalty in football, basketball, baseball, or softball. You also are unlikely to get the death penalty in any other sport.
