My family and I came up from Atlanta for Homecoming this weekend and had a great time. As my eight year old said,"It was good to be home".

But I have to admit I left with mixed emotions about my fellow Vol fans. I sat amongst season ticket holders in the box seat area. Most of them are long time donors, one gentleman was attorney who has had tickets since the 50's.

Most people spent the night *****ing about the black jerseys. A few of them stated they left the game in the first quarter of the SCjr game because of the jerseys.

I heard some comments about CLK's play calling is like he's playing Playstation. They hated going for it on fourth down.

They spoke of tradition in regards to the hatred toward the black jerseys. They commented that this isn't Tennessee football when we went for fourth down.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I sat there at a game that we were thrashing the opponent and fans are *****ing and complaining. I understand about our traditions, I was born ORANGE. But to leave the game because the team wore black, what a joke.

I wished these fans who are so convicted about traditions would have stopped complaining and actually participated in some traditions like cheers and singing Rocky Top.

If it's so miserable to be a part of something special that's happening at Neyland then stay home. The change has happened. Like it or not, either support your team or go away.

Maybe if they offered free geritol with their season tickets it would help appease them.

Keep winning and someone will want those tickets if they don't.

You should respect tradition but... traditions started somewhere, right?

what makes it worse is this was the majority of the the section which are all season ticket holders. No wonder Neyland has lost the intimidation factor.

Make room for people who actually want to be there. So to them, Tennessee football is playing down to your opponent, not taking any chances, and barely beating teams you should win by 30+
They should get off their high horse and come to the realization that Fulmer is not coming back. Kiffin is going to start a new tradition...of winning. It's not like the black jerseys were Kiffin's idea anyway. The players (namely Eric Berry and Montario Hardesty) wanted them.

I think that's the problem that Hamilton faces... a younger generation that is increasingly staying away, and an aging generation of donors that is getting old and resentful of change...

I say we start a new tradition. When we go for it on fourth down, instead of sitting there in disbelief. We should stand on our feet and cheer the team on as they approach the line of scrimmage. We should let the defense know we are getting ready to smack them in the mouth.:clapping:

I bet they loved that onside kick
speaking of that, does anyone have a video of the kick?
also, did anyone else notice that eric berry's knee never hit the ground on the fumble recovery? he should've gotten a TD.
ps-i didnt read the game thread, so if it was discussed, my bad.

Yeah, it was terrible converting 4th downs and winning those games the way we were supposed to. We should punt on third down and save the forward pass for bowl games only.

Welcome to modern, relevant football old fogies. Luckily they still play your boring brand of ball in the big 10, so feel free to go get your fix there and let the rest of us enjoy some exciting UT football again...FINALLY!

His elbows were on the ground.

Like a previous poster stated..If you are an old school Vol you will have to accept these changes to the team and decide if you want to be at the game or not..Also stated earlier was relinquish your ticket if you wish and I agree people will be in line for your ticket...I know I would be.

It's not like they are wearing the black jerseys every home game. It was a one time thing. I am a big supporter of old traditions, but times have changed and people need to get used to that. I am all for any new ideas to get the team pumped up and bring in more recruits

I'm not so sure about people beating down doors to get the tickets of people who may stop going...

There are tickets/empty seats out there every game...

Hey Vol fans. First post.

I wanted to comment on the vol faithful in and around section W. Story is I buy my tickets in section D from a long time donor and I decided to sell them this weekend and sit somewhere different. Sooo I ended up in W. They weren't on the 40 like in D but I am all Vol. I truly enjoyed the game and there is not really a bad seat in the house.

POINT - - IT WAS QUIET........DURING THE VOL CHEERS YOU COULD HEAR A PIN DROP IN SECTION W. Seemed like the people were there just to meet and greet there buddies and go home. I noticed this the whole time as my section D was going nuts. Almost brought me down. I guess I just wish the vol faithful would be as excited as I am.

Exactly. Neyland has been plagued with this problem since the early 90's. There are way too many people that quite frankly should be at home watching the game in bed.
