Missouri Quarterback up Next

As usual, JH simply waits, then reacts. I see nothing proactive in anything he does, including the portal. Other teams snatch players up the moment they hit, indicating to me that they have worked the kid into the portal and then grab who they have selected. We wait....and wait....and wait, THEN react and grab what's left.

Dislike

One thing I will never question..is heupel and qb's. If it's a good deal and we can add more defensive players, let's go
I personally question Heupel and QBs. Why? He benched Hendon Hooker and recruited over him by bringing in Milton. The only reason Hooker got on the field at all was Milton got hurt. JA arrived here by default and we got lucky. Heupel's history with QBs has at least as many fails as it has wins.

First comment is such BS. Really? We're up to the overall #3 class (recruits + portal).

Straight from left field

That's all you really need to know regarding GMac.
If things go as I anticipate....worst case always...we sign Leavitt, GMac transfers leaving Brandon as the backup. Leavitt doesn't heal like we'd hoped leaving a true freshman to face that schedule. We go ultra conservative on offense and rely almost exclusively on the new defense which isn't up to speed yet.

Rough year and we finish 5-7 and Freeman is our leading receiver since he's going to be Brandons go to for the season. That's probably why Heupel signed him....preparing for the worst which we all know is coming.

Watch for Matthews to hit the portal and UT will make another RB an even bigger priority for this rough, rough season to come.

You may be right, I may be crazy.

B. Joel, 1981

I hope you ARE right. Nothing would make me happier than eating crow after a 10-2, 11-1 season.

my opinion is that they are looking for depth more than anything at qb. If they can get an experienced qb at a reasonable price, fine. So they’re testing the waters with Leavitt and Pribula. But I think they’d be just as happy ending up with a no name smaller conference guy at a discount that can compete. I read it more that they’re completely confident GMac could start, but since they need depth anyway, shoot for the moon. Then roll with whoever wins and spend the money on defense.

lol. This post makes you look incredibly dumb now given what he has accomplished in the portal.

fallback if Leavitt (won't happen IMO. We are not going to go over 5 million to get him) or Aguilar processes don't work out. Bring in Pribula to compete with Mac and Brandon.. I think they are really hoping Joey gets a positive ruling soon but not sure anyone knows..

Do you have to be a certain size to play QB? If so, and he's not but has the skills, do you not play him because he might get hurt? Supposedly, Bobby Bowden passed on Tony Robinson because of his lack of size. Robinson was 6'4" 170 as a high school senior.
You dont need to fit a certain look or thickness. It's just a message board theory that some like to latch onto amd climg for dear life.

We have had some skinny QBs that performed pretty well in the past and will again in the future. Hopefully George will be one the next one.

Thanks was trying to recall numbers from an article I read a day or two ago.

Seeing what he did with Hooker, Milton, and Aguilar, I too will trust Heupel here.

Only concern is the injury status and with all the churn, seems like Pribula is the more sound choice over Leavitt in that area.
Wondered if part of Pribula’s decision to leave was the insanely poor play calls he had to live with…with the RBs Missouri had this season only a moron would run the QB inside on fourth and goal from the one yard line….thats the play on which he was injured.

And Coleman. No one thought we were going to have a shot at Leavitt either and yet we are in it (or so it seems)
Knowles is the reason for those four. Period. You take them out and everyone Is on full panic mode. If you aren’t walking a player or two into the portal, you aren’t in the game.

Reason doesn't matter as long as they are suiting up for the Vols. Knowles has helped, for sure, but we'd still have the same strategy w/o him, and pure meaningless conjecture on where we'd be w/o Knowles. To me, it means JH got the right DC. Talent always matters, but as we've seen in CFB this year, maybe more than any other year I can remember, coaching does matter.

If you don’t think any of the QBs left are any good that’s on you. You would have said the same thing about Chambliss. There are good QBs still left. Now does that mean Heupel wants any of them? I have no clue.
Chambliss had 2 D2 Championships to his credit though
