Palardy was supposed to be good. He's not.
Matt Darr was supposed to be a good punter, and even they can sometimes help kick. He's not that good either.
So it's really bad luck, honestly. And with a campus size of like 28,000 let's just roughly estimate that about 14,000 are guys. Pretty hard to find a serviceable SEC kicker with those numbers, and to be fair, Dooley has tried recruiting the position. I'm just somewhat grateful that out of those 14,000ish, we found Brodus.
Which makes you really question the evaluations being done.
EVERY evaluation of Palardy while in high school at St. Thomas Aquinas High in Fort Lauderdale was that he was one of the top kickers, if not the best, in high school his senior season. Aquinas is also one of the best HS programs year-in and year-out. Getting Palardy was a major coup, but he hasn't panned out to say the least.
If you knew about the Palardy's recruiting, you would know that everyone missed on this evaluation.
Is that correct? I think it is.
I know Dooley can't do the kicking, but to me this wreaks of the lack of attention to detail that seems to hover around him. How can this situation not be resolved in year 3?
So. Dooley has been watching him perform since 2010.
You're acting as if Dooley is completely oblivious to this. I'm sure he's tried to fix it. The sad reality is that sometimes, people don't live up to expectations. Simple. I'm not gonna pretend to be a huge Dooley fan here, but I do have a sense of logic and reasoning. Palardy was one of the best kickers out of high school. If you knew ANYTHING about his recruitment, you'd know that there was nothing but glowing reviews for him. And I just checked: Palardy committed to Kiffin in July of 2009.
