Hey all, long time no speak. I'm sure things are pretty bleak around here. Here in Jersey I'm at least somewhat optimistic about the state of the program since I'm removed from it.

That being said, I'm making my first trip to Knoxville since the 01 opener against Syracuse next weekend against Mississippi State. I'd love to see the Vols upset UGA again to breathe some life into the matchup, but I can't imagine a lifeless Neyland until I see it myself I guess.

Some questions for you all on the eve of me heading down there---

1) How many empty seats should I expect for the game? I'm used to full house, no gray bleachers exposed, insanely loud atmosphere. I know I won't get that, but just how far off from that will I likely be seeing?

2) I'm going to be in Knoxville on the following Sunday. I will be a Jets fan looking to watch the classic Jets-Raiders tilt somewhere. Is there a good sports bar with NFL Sunday Ticket around the campus area where I'd be able to get the Jets game put on a TV?

Thanks for the insights guys, and go Vols.

Honestly I am thinking it will be fairly well attended. It is still Tennessee football in some ways, and it is SEC competition. Because we're playing the team that vandy plays this week, many of us will watch it mentally compare what vandy was able to do to them the week before. Plus, it is an evening game, which I consider to be an attendance advantage this time of year, and probably lends a few decibels in and of itself since tailgating start times never change.

However, I do think there's a swing of about 10,000 people or so who will make a decision based on what shows up on the field versus Georgia. My guess? Official attendence I think will be > 100,000, but actual may be more like 90,000 - 95,000.

A Met fan too... geez, what an awful fall it's been for us. :shakehead:

Our season was realistically sunk when Wagner went down 2-3 days after the trading deadline. If he stays healthy, or if he goes down a week earlier to enable a decent trade, I think we're still playing right now. I don't feel as bad as I did last year, but we need to have a good offseason, and fortunately we get to unload 2-3 big contracts. But, no more 40-yr-old OFs, and no more foolish 4-yr deals for marginal talent like Castillo.

If nothing else, the MSU game can very reasonably be considered "winnable."

Well all I know is it was a tie for the WC heading into the last weekend, and a 3.5 game lead over the Phils with 17 to play. Minaya could have and should have done more to fix the bullpen. Even after the July 31 deadline, teams made bullpen trades while Minaya did nothing, content to watch Aaron Heilman, Feliciano, Schoenweis, and Duaner Sanchez piss the season away.

Paul's Oasis

Ray's ESG

Rays ESG is on Kingston Pike across from Chili's. Out towards West Town Mall. Used to be Kingston Alley.

Paul's Oasis might be what used to be Michael's.

To watch the Jets game go to Cool Beans...it's a real fun bar at night but on sunday's they have sunday ticket (about 20 nice flatscreens)and it's right on campus basically. It's on Lake avenue behind The first Tennessee and new amsterdam on the strip.

They have really good burgers and wings, and tons of beers!

True. He did get Luis Ayala, but that wasn't enough.

I'm staying at the Hampton Inn on the other side of the bridge from the stadium. Something walkable in the campus area would be great, if not anything a reasonable drive away would be good too.

This sounds up my alley... a chance to relive my college years :good!:

How crowded does it get on NFL Sundays? Would I have any difficulty getting a game on?

Cool Beans normally has a crowd of about 30 or 40 people...usually decked out in their NFL Jersey's...won't be hard at all to get it on the game, Bartenders are cool a few are buddies of mine, just ask them and they will hook ya up!

Hey all I had a great time at Neyland. It was shocking to see empty seats in person, but of course I haven't been since 01 so a lot of bad seasons and missed opportunities have happened in between. It still was a great time, and at least I got to see a win.

Thanks for the Sunday Ticket suggestions. I ended up at the Buffalo Wild Wings, it was very fun, very organized and efficient about getting the games on, and I had a blast even meeting some fellow Jet fans until about 745 when Janikowski ruined my night.

I'll be in Nashville for the Vandy game, so hopefully I can bring them some luck again...
