Minneapolis wants to disband police

I am very interested to see the results. Kudos to Minneapolis for testing some new approaches. Looks like they're using 911 call center data as a resource to decide how best to provide assistance to their citizens.

Hope they do disband the police, but they will not. Let BLACK LIVES MATTER take over policing the city. It would be like Lenin's Bolsheviks policing Moscow.

Even some of our resident liberals here are not on board.

What you will probably end up is a bunch of political hacks with no training and absolutely no authority to enforce the law, unless you want to get into some citizens arrest BS.

How's Minneapolis going to function without fear of the cops murdering its citizens in broad daylight?

Based on the looting and carnage we’ve seen over the last two weeks, Section 8 certainly seems like it’ll fare pretty well short-term!

Best thing that could happen is 50% of the police force quits and the remaining refuse to serve the more dangerous communities. For Minneapolis that could be 3/4's of the city.

Instead of actually holding police officers accountable for their actions and improving police training (which would require effort), they decide to completely disband the police department.

It's like cutting your leg off to change your socks. Seems like a completely overboard response.
