What a crock. It's all about the salary cap. Cutting Howell would not only hit them with his current contract (around $1.2 million) but would create a dead cap hit of someting around $1.6 million. It's the $1.6 million they want available in case of a free agent they might want to sign later on a 1 year.

JM went unclaimed off waivers. There must be something going on with him behind the scenes. I hope he has his head straight and understands that this is professional football…a serious business.

And if you are insinuating that he didn’t get good coaching at Tennessee, I stand to disagree. Joe never would have made it to the NFL without the work of the UT staff. He improved tremendously during his time in Knoxville.

And the same staff got HH and JA shots at the next level without exceptional arm talent.

I think the coaching he received was to succeed in Heupel’s system, not to be an NFL QB. Not that all those things are mutually exclusive. There’s not a lot of advanced progression reading in Heup’s offense. It was tempo to get mismatches and blown coverages.

I read somewhere Joe actually requested to be put on waivers. He thinks he can get a better situation elsewhere. If that's true somebody somewhere is telling him that very thing.

Dallas cut Joe AFTER all other NFL teams had settled their QB situations. This was an attempt to screw Joe over by making the Cowboys practice squad his only option. They love the guy and desperately want to keep him; however, they do not want Dak looking over his shoulder. Milton will be a starter in the league at some point, and I expect him to do well. I do not think this sat well with Joe because he has yet to sign with the practice squad. I have a feeling his agent is aggressively shopping him to teams for a roster spot and the Fins and Jets should be salivating over the idea of signing him. Crappy move but also sensible. Bill Walsh was the ultimate team builder pre-crazy free agency and guaranteed contracts. Never saddled himself with loyalty. Jimmy Johnson also in a shorter run.

The world is still full of wonders, I believe despite current circumstances, we haven't heard the last of Bazooka.
He may not be as cerebral as some QBs, but has too much upside to totally dismiss. Doug Williams 2.0 will rise.

Nothing wrong with keeping the dream alive, but I just have this pretty well-attested theory that if someone was average or below average in college, then they aren't going to be an NFL starter.
